I just bought a 1989Iroc-z28 with the 350 L98 B2L.Got alot of Q.How can I find the paint code?Theres a whole bunch of no. in the console,but is it there?Dose this motor have the alum. heads?The hood is the worst part of the whole car.It has bisterd paint and surface rust.There are decales or whats left of them that say L98 350 corvett or somthing like that. I run the vin and it is supposed to be the 350 tpi it dose have the rear disk brakes but only single pistons. not including the hood the paint is shining.can't see any over spray or touch up.the underside looks good as far as damage gose.light surface rust here and there.Oh yes,T-tops,is it true 89 was the only year there was t-tops and the 350? how many?what would be a fair price to get the tranny tuned up? The paint code is on the bottom line of the SPID in the glove box.

F-body L98's have iron heads.

The decals on the hood are not stock.

350 + T-tops was not a 89 only option. It was fairly common from 87-89.

No one really kept track of option combinations. You can find out how many Camaros had T-tops or the 350 TPI, but there is no way to know how many had both.

By tuned up you mean a fluid refill with a filter? or it needs to be rebuilt?

From the codes, you've already figured out the big things. Nothing unusual really stands out. 1FP87 is the first part of the VIN number, just tells the make model, etc.

thanks for the imput.So is dark blue the stock color or who can tell me? I guess a rebuild if I gotta go that far.Would like to keep it together.Now any 700r for a v8 should work?right? Now if the decals are added then no need to put them on when the hood gets refinished.thanks again

someone did a good job on a repaint. I don't see any signs of black on underside of hood doors hatches and so on. the Iroc on the side looks factory and the black and blue stripes around the bottom are good.There is some light blue pinstriping that for sure was added

Before you get too carried away... Make sure the VIN on the SPID is the same as the VIN on the dash. If they don't match, the codes aren't relevant to that car.

Car is at a friends house. I'm preaty sure they did.Because ive almost got it menorized now. I will check for sure tommorrow.The console is in real good shape.It might have been changed. Thanks for the reminder to double check that one.
