I've never heard of this Hooker modified 1985 1C5 California Iroc-Z28 till today! I checked the Vin# 1G1FP87F9FL476911 and it is a true 1C5 Iroc-Z. Does anybody have that January issue of Car Craft Magazine? I want to buy that issue if you have it. I'll be watching that auction!

Did anyone notice that it had a spoiler attached to the rear deck lid? I wonder if that was part of the Car Craft magazine modifications that were done in 1985? Only way to know for sure is to get a copy of the January issue.

I'm not seeing the deck lid spoiler. As an afterthought, I think we should be looking for the January '86 issue. The 1C5's weren't in production in Jan '85. In addition, they put 2000 miles on the original drive train, and it probably took month's after that to do all the mods.

calroc you make a good point that the Car Craft magazine issue couldn't be January of 1985 since they didn't produce 1C5 California Irocs till late April. Also, there are 4 holes in the deck lid where something was once mounted. I assumed a spoiler, it could have been a rack or chute?

After looking closer, I do see the holes. Probably WAS a spoiler. Rack highly doubtful. Chute, probably not on a sprayed 10.80 car. I have a 10.86 slip on a little spray, and never thought of a chute. None the less, good eye.

Sweet, i really love to see the custom camaro's that were customized back when they were new, lets you see what was called "custom" in the 80s and 90s.

Re: 1985 calif. Spec. IROC Hooker project car.

The seller added
"The magazine article on this car was actually in the jan 87 issue of car craft on page 76 77 78 sorry for the confusion. there was a hooker brand wing on the car but was removed and not kept. The a/c pump was removed but comes with the car Other than that the car is exactly as it was when the article was written. The paint is original but is 25 years old looks good other than a small buff through on the hatch".
I think I have that issue.

Re: 1985 calif. Spec. IROC Hooker project car.

As soon as I take some Picts, will post them, as for now, I can say it is in great shape, had the original motor(305 tpi)put back in, only around 2,000 miles on it, the car itself has only 5,500 miles!!! The car is like new and it's 29 years old!!!! It's almost original, still has the Hooker roll bar, and the racing seats! It' has been garaged!!! I am a truck driver,& I got very lucky to get this car!! Got to get my sleep,up at 5 am!!! Thanks for all the interest!
