Re: 1984 Trans Am help
No info on the stripe... RPO code definitions for color markings are notoriously inaccurate. Make sure that the reference applies specifically to your make and model before trusting it.
As far as the GFX color, the SPID should have the paint codes at the bottom... You'll have a couple four digit numbers with a U or L at the front. The U is the upper color, the L is the lower. The L code might apply to the contrast color on a two tone car, but I've never verified that. If you can find a pic of a SPID from a Z28 or T/A with gold/silver GFX you can verify it yourself.

Re: 1984 Trans Am help
Ok Thanks , My other question is I notice there were two types of colors for the 1984 TA package Grey and Gold, my rpo code and on radiator support tag show my interior was suppose to be 6OC,60I,6O9 but when I bought the car it had grey interior along with grey trim inside and grey areo package with grey pin striping what is the correct for my rpo code?
Did some one change this interior and out side trim or was this change done from factory and forgot to change the rpo code, what is original color suppose to be for my interior grey or cognac? if I had cognac color would my areo packge "ground effects"be in gold color?
Thank You
I want to restore my project to factory original trying figure out correct inside and outside trim colors

Re: 1984 Trans Am help
the 60 = the color, in this case apparently Light Sand Gray...
9 = Seat Belt trim
I = Interior Trim - not specific

Re: 1984 Trans Am help
HI
Thanks for your help but I think the rpo you were looking up is not a exterior rpo code its for the interior when I use the rpo coder from this sight it gave me my interior was congac color, When I bought the car it has grey interior with outside grey areo package did some one switch the color along the line some where? these were the codes from my rpo data sheet I found under console door... My question was If my interior is in conac "redish tan" color according to my rpo sheet what color are the areo package? is it gold or grey? and also my previous question I have a rpo code 16a this is for my stripe but I dont see any car with it is this correct? my car had the ta stripe on it in grey color or did again some one change this also?what would be rpo then for the ta stripe on the car in Gold or Grey?
Just want to restore it back to factory it has orginal l69 350 high output with a Borg and Warner 5 speed and all T/A option in it as well minus power windows and locks.
do you want me to send my rpo to help decipher it?

Re: 1984 Trans Am help
ecc12,
Here inlies the problem, the number 60 has been used over and over again and it means different things for different years. For 1984, the color number 60 = Light sandstone Gray. I got that from A) dealer information and B) THe firebird Red book... Your interior color should be gray...
Also the engine would have been the L69 305 the 350 was introduced in 1987, as a Fuel injected engine. GM did not offer a motor larger than 307 (gasoline) from 1982 thru 1986 on any domestic car except for Cadillac, and a the Corvette..
