Do a search on the History forum for 1LE and you'll get all the differences and you'll know what you need to locate. It's mostly just the brakes.

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
What exactly is your goal? If you're just after the increased performance, get yourself an A/C delete pulley, and larger front brakes. That's assuming you already have dual cats, decent gears, and the FE2 suspension. About the only other thing improving performance of 1LEs is potentially weight reduction. Really when you get right down to it, the 1LE option adds bigger front brakes over the top level Camaro. You can get better performance for your money while keeping your air conditioning. A clone is going to be a clone and will probably be worth less then if it were all original, in good clean condition. So why would you really want to clone a 1LE?

Coo. I currently have edelbrock headers, 2 cats and 2 dynomax bullet racemufflers waiting to be thrown on and I already have the A/C delete pulley.

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
I got the Baer Brakes...IIRC the "12" Sport" It was a reasonably easy swap, they included spindles, Rotors, Braided hose, Everything I needed except the tools... It made the swap really easy honestly...
The only thing that I remember being a PITA was the brake hose clips... They were a bear to clip on. But I got them with a little persuasion...

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
Chevrolet built 478 Z28 Coupes with "1LE" equipment for 1991. As in 1989 and 1990, RPO G92 triggered the build. RPO G92 required one of two engine combinations, the 305ci LB9 V8 with 5-speed manual, or the 350ci B2L V8 with automatic transmission. When ordered with air conditioning, RPO G92 ($466) included engine oil cooler, 4-wheel disc brakes (except for a brief period when 4-wheel discs were deleted with a $287 credit), and dual-converter exhaust. When ordered without air conditioning, RPO G92 ($675) added heavy-duty front brakes, aluminum driveshaft and spare wheel, special shocks and fuel pickup, and gas tank baffle. Fog lamps were deleted for weight savings and improved cooling

Keep in mind that the majority of those 478 1LE's were installed on the B4C "Special service" typically Police cars...

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
Is the statement on the Camaro Source page inaccurate in that it should read "478 Camaro coupes" were built with 1LE? Or were 478 Z28s actually built with 1LE, with an additional number of Camaros built as RS/B4C/1LE?

Hey Everyone,
As far as I know I'm not trying to build a clone thats stu-pid. If I really want an original one well I'll try looking for one I just want the performance most of you guys have directed me to the right sources.
Thanks. Tony.

If I recall, the B4C and 1LE combo was a 1992 thing, not a 1991 thing. Get your facts straight mister John!!

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
For the $ you put in it building a 1LE, you coulda built something better, for the same price, or for just a very few bucks more.
Not to mention, getting some of the 1LE specific parts might be difficult.

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
The plan is to build it like as the 1LE I dont want the original parts cause thats gonna be $$$ so yeah. LIke for example if it came with dual piston calipers well I'll get dual piston calipers too as well thats what I mean. Does anyone know of like a part list that these cars had to make them a 1LE?
Thanks. Tony.

Check the link in the first post of the following thread for a how-to on converting to 1LE fronts (It's the one I used). The rest of the thread details converting the rears to the so-called 1LE set-up.

Spohn also offers parts and/or a 1LE kit:

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
Not to hijack the tread but I believe sometime in 91 the B4C cars were switched to include the 1LE options. I know of at least one 91 B4C car w/ 1LE RPO. Can someone confirm? (or should I just do some research myself?)
#24
Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
That is correct. You could get a 91 B4C with or without the 1LE. I have had 3 1991 B4C's. 2 were 1LE cars. The 3rd was not a 1LE and it was a late build car. All 1992 B4C's came with the 1LE.

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
when i told the dealer what i wanted.. and looked at what the cars came with. and what i was going to do (Drag Race)
the only thing i did was. not order was the 1LE Brakes..
(you could better aftermarket ones).
I orderd My car with
Artic White paint
flame red intr
CD Playr
5.7
700R4
2 cats
4 wheel disc brake
3.73 posi
all the other Z28 ricky race parts.
then about 6 months later it came in.
then 8 months later It was at Lingenfelters
getting the Good stuff..stage 5 383.
all that factry stuff back then was soso.. makes for a nice driver.
but lets face it. when you want to go fast.. anything stock is Just OK.
Add the parts you want.all it is is parts.. you add them now..it's new.

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
With all you changed on a brand new car, you shoulda bought a stripped V6, then sent off to Lingenfelter. Woulda saved you a good bit of change too.

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
No..
would not be a Z28 (was so glad they stopped the IROC) only 9.000.000 sold...lol
would have not been a true 5.7 car
springs all wrong
cats would not be right.
would not get the exact things i wanted.
i wanted the 25th anvry Z28.
with the lowest gears
and ricky race parts they sold.
a V6 car would cost way to much to try to add a V8 to with all i Had Lingenfelter do.
back in the 90's was running 11.70's and 12.00 without NOS.
turn that on. and 10's it was.. now with up grades we will see. what she will run..
always wanted a Z28 that would run 10's and you can drive on the street.
it's not a V6 car.. Its a true 5.7 Z28 that pulls the wheels. runs in the 10's
and i can drive to anyplace USA..(on a sunny day only) never have driven it in the rain.

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
alot of guys talk about the 1LE..but lets face it.. what it all comes down to is a tad bit bigger front brakes..on the 92 5.7 cars.
is it cool now...yes..
my 92
5.7 HARD TOP
big swaybars (had them)
4 wheel disk (love mine pizza cutters up front) 1LE..NOPE
2 cats (Had them)
lower gears (i had lower) 9" now
miles on car now 34.000 but its a Hot rod and geting it's 3rd eng.
power seats (had them)
power everything (still have it)
a true Lingenfelter Z28 5.7 Stage 5 car.
some times i see stock Z28's and think for a sec.. thats what i had for a few weeks back in 92...

Re: Converting To A 1LE, Help!
not sure.
the only hot rod upgrade would be
No A/C
and Bigger brakes
and 2 cats.
and the 5.7 (305..not so much)
and the larg sway bars.(if your doing the street thing)
not many would keep them without radios.
fog light's.. i added them to my order.(standard)
along with 1 grill painted to match the artic white body color
and the black grill that comes on the Z28.
passed on the stipe thing....had some hand pin stripes and color inlays to the grnd efx.
(wanted it to stand out from any other Z28 at the time..and to this day!
iv had my car now for over 17 years. and would never let it go.. it's my money pit...

On my Z I already did the A/C delete well in the process just need to gut the a/s stuff. I have the 2 cats already need to get them installed but I do need a 350 though.
