Yea I know, I'm still getting used to having to let the car run for a minute or two before shutting it down. I'd prefer not to wire a turbo timer into it, but if I don't get used to it, I'd rather do that than replace my turbo! LOL.

When I can afford to pay off the painter, LOL. But honestly, I should have the bumper this week. Hood and spoiler will be another week or two. But now that I have tranny problems, thats goal number one....then the body comes after that.

LOL, in the video you revved her up and I was shouting at you, "Don't shut it down right after you rev it!" But you let it idle a bit before you turned the ignition off.

just went from page one to 28... This is one awesome and detailed buildup! Great job man. I've been thinking of doing two smaller turbos on mine... You got me hooked.

Re: **Project PITA** 86 TA frame up restoration
Started making the exhaust from the downpipe back. Got it to about the front of the pass door. At first I was a bit nervous since I thought ground clearence was going to be an issue, but honestly it seems like I have more ground clearence than stock! I'm sure the stock exhausts weren't designed as tightly hung as mine will be though. So far it's coming out great! Should be able to order the borla muffler soon and then I can't wait to hear it with a real muffler! Should sound WAY better and a lot smoother. Heres a couple pics.
You can see here how nice a 3.5" pipe fits in there. From the side, it barely hangs past the bottom of the ground effects!
Also got my BMR front 32mm solid sway bar. Looks VERY nice so I can't wait to get it on and see how it stiffens the front end up.

Just be careful with the heat man even the stock cat under there with a shield would cook my carpet on occasion you might want to make a heat shield or something. Nice bends though.

Are you totally set on the Borla? I think SLP loudmouth 2s sound better, just my opinion though.

if you are worried about heat in any one area, you can wrap the pipe there with header wrap. I did that with my son's 3000gt...the pipes went real close to the transfer case, so i just wrapped it in that area....might do the same thing on my volvo S60....the exhaust goes right under the rear diff....gotta be great for fluid temps!

Yea, pretty set on the borla. IDK about the SLP loudmouth 2. Both the 1 and 2 in my opinion sound kinda hollow and raspy. I was never a big fan of them. I just love borlas quality and sound!

Bumper and last two front ground effects are on! ALL she's missing at this point is the hood and spoiler. Also found out a guy I work with does tranny rebuilds on the side so I may be able to get my T56 rebuilt for next to nothing in cost. REALLY lucked out on that one. Anyways, heres pics.

Re: **Project PITA** 86 TA frame up restoration
From experience with the Loud Mouth 1 it is loud, very raspy and throaty, almost makes you sound like a race car just quieter. That was on a LT1 car with stock manifolds and cat. The Borla is much deeper, a little bit quieter but really opens up when your on it. In my opinion have used both I would take the Borla, the downside to the borla is price, but since you are making your own exhaust that doesn't really matter, for those of us that like cat backs the borla is way to expensive

But man let me tell you, I love the fact the drone and raspy sound is gone!!! Borla is the way to go for the ls1.

looking good dude!
in post 1360 it looks like you dont have sub frame connectors?! or do you have the Alston ones that dont follow the pinch weld all the way forward and that's why I don't see them?

Haha...you caught me. No subframe connectors yet! I really need them bad though. I didn't know what to get because I don't want them to interfere with the exhaust routing. I may end up building my own in all honesty, but we'll see what happens. Most that I see limit the clearence for the exhaust right by where it passes next to the front framerail.

I've got Alston subframe connectors with 3" dual cat exhaust and had no clearance issues they the lowest point of my car and protect the rest of undercarriage when going over the huge speeds bumps on my street.

Its legitimately a car again! Oh wait, you need headlights. Looks real good though. I look forward to possibly seeing this on the roads of CT. I'm in CT now and then so I'll see.

Spintech's do sound awesome! Unfortunately I have heard from people that they don't flow the greatest, and for a turbo application, flow is everything. Thats why I really am limited to a straight through design.

yeah it's coming it's been a long time coming, lol but i know how you feel you start to pull things apart. Then you start to think hey I should go ahead and clean this and replace this (since I'm hear anyway lol) btw I read in earlier you said you got your ride insured. Make sure that you get this bad boy apparised and get yourself a stated amount policy. Seriously that way you don't have to fight with your insurance or even the others dudes insurance if something were to happen. Most insurance companys will only go with ACV actual Cash value.(ACV is ok for a new car not a custom one) I plan to get that done(stated amount) for my iroc when I'm done with the head swap. (well actaully when I get it running that is lol) I've seen to many nightmares with guys and their hooked up rides getting the short end of the stick. Due to not having the right policy.

Don't worry, I plan on having it insured through some sort of collector car company after it's done. The insurance I have now is just temporary so I can get any bugs worked out and drive it legally if I have to work on the tune more. Problem with insuring it through collector car insurance right now is that those companies want pictures of the car to give me a value, and since the car is not complete, they have to give me a value based on the pictures I send them. I know it wouldn't be as high as it should be so I figured I'd wait until the car was actually done. But in all honesty, I have about $32K in the car currently, so I DEF plan on getting better insurance down the road!

Got the exhaust made to about the rear axle. Going to need another UJ bend to finish it, but so far it's coming out awesome. I snapped a shot while I had it off. Here she is!
LOL, I don't know whether to take that as a compliment or an insult. Thanks? Hahaha.

You can do it on a budget too... Just takes a lot longer and a lot of scrounging! I have a .030 over 350 Pontiac short block with recent rebuild, the best flowing heads the factory made for it, best intake factory made (which makes the same numbers as a performer rpm, but heavier), Holley annihilator ignition & Acell coil, a Holley carb, vintage Micky Thompson aluminum valve covers and I only have about $500 into it. But I've also been collecting parts for almost 4 years lol. I"ll have about $1500 in it once I finish with gaskets, cam & lifters, timing chain, headers, 2 small turbos and a few misc parts. But not bad for a engine that should be pushing around 400 Hp/torque with room for future upgrades and under 2k.

I've looked into those Classic Car Insurance policies and they will insure it for an agreed amount. They base the premiums on the amount of coverage. The I company I talked to said I could drive in no more than 5000 miles a year (since you won't be driving in the winter in your area probably not a problem) and it had to stored in a locked garage that was in your complete control (not a problem in your case either). There were other restrictions but can't think of them at the moment.

I use State farm for everything....i always thought they treated me right- especially with my old stuff....then i saw an article about classic car insurance in the "Auto Restorer" magazine that i subscribe to.....lots of other guys felt the same way- they were treated very fairly by state farm.....they've never asked me about hp or where i park the cars....milage needs to be under 7500 a year....worth looking into!

I also have State farm Ins. but if you think they will give anywhere near $35,000 for that car, if it's totaled you're kidding yourself. They pay the cost to replace it with a similar car, but not one with all the work that's gone in to his car. Maybe they would give him $5000. on a good day.

Something I plan on doing to my car in the future is cutting out the bucket for the rear seats and welding in a piece of metal to make that back area completely flat and also free up room for the mufflers of a True dual exhaust and X-Pipe. Just giving you ideas though
