Do our cars have build sheets in them somewhere?? I still have my SPI decal in the package tray in the trunk, but i was planning on restoring my 92 GTA and was wondering if they had them like older cars???

Re: Build Sheets??
It honestly depends on your car, As most do not seem to have it while others do. It more or less depended on the day, the mood of the employees, the way the wind was blowing to whether and where you would locate a build sheet.
Chances are no, as most of the Build sheets I hear about are in earlier cars. They tend to become fewer as the years go on, but I may be wrong.

Re: Build Sheets??
Just curious, Tom, is that the master build sheet, or the trim sheet? Some people (perhaps unknowingly) interchange the two when they are quite different. I've seen many call the trim build sheet the "build sheet". Just curious.

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner, or I would post it up.

Re: Build Sheets??
Hmmm...I'm not sure. It has RPO codes on it; but it also has a lot of non-RPO information, such as "headlamp," "throttle cable," "struts," "rear shock," "emblems," as well as things such as armrest color, seatbelt color, etc.
Unfortunately I don't have a scanner, or I would post it up.

It's not the master build sheet as it doesn't have all the RPOs nor the dealership information.

Re: Build Sheets??
Thanks for clearing that up, guys. What I have is the trim sheet. I guess I haven't found the true "build sheet" for my car.

Re: Build Sheets??
Not okfoz, nor do I know where he found it (though it won't help you much because they can be located just about anywhere - if at all), that build sheet John posted appears to came from his 1987 Formula Yellow/Black. The build sheet shows black interior (cloth) and yellow exterior.

Re: Build Sheets??
ah thanks for the info, i wasn't really reading the info off the sheet...just typed on a whim...
call me obsessed but i'm determined in finding a build sheet! If my car is all original and has been unmolested all this time, then there's a good possiblity that my gta, may or may not have one. I will start tearing up my interior starting this weekend and keep ya'll posted (wish me luck i'm gonna need it!)

Two matching trim sheets for me so far. One under each front seat. No build sheet yet but also not too interested in pulling my ride apart vs the odds of finding one. Maybe someday.

Re: Build Sheets??
PHS can only give you copies of your vehicle invoices, reproduction of window sticker, and they also sell information packets that would have info on your vehicle application like the decoding info for the rpo codes, vehicle production data, engine info, etc...

Re: Build Sheets??
how did you get a build sheet from PHS? there's no way you could it got it from them. They don't sell build sheets...buildsheets are only found in your car if it's there.

Come to think of it, you're right. I put my build sheet in the packet from PHS. I had totally fogotten about it until your post. The build sheet was tossed under the carpet on the passenger side. I took the carpet up to weld in subframe connectors. Sorry about the confusion on the packets from PHS. It has been better than 10 years though.....

Re: Build Sheets??
I found the build sheet of my 84 Trans Am under the carpet on the passenger side transmission hub, but there not much left of it. It was eaten by moisture, the insulation pads were completely wet. That's why I removed the carpet, I didn't want the floors to get rusty.
Now I can only hope to find another one. Did they still put them on top of the gas tank on third gens ?

Re: Build Sheets??
no prob kwikgta, i figured as much....i've looked high and low for my build sheet in my car and found nothing
i completely tore the carpet out looked under the obvious places like the truck compartment, passenger seat area, etc. I was hoping to find at least a trim sheet but i don't even see that as well. I pulled out the pass side door panel and unfortunately nothing. I already have a good feeling that someone may have possibly taken the sheets out (if there were any). Also several things i've noticed is the pass door has been taken apart from a previous window motor replacement. While taking apart the carpet, i found miles of wiring following along the under driver side . I know this because there was a aftermarket 6 disc cd changer in the trunk compartment before i bought the car and wasn't there when i came to pick the car up, but all the wiring was left behind.
oh well at least i tried.
anywho hey kwikgta, if you don't mind me asking what is your sequence number on gta? ..(the last 6 digits of your vin) or when was your gta built? mine was build in January of 89... i'm just thinking if maybe what i'm saying has something to do with when they throw build sheets in the car...

Re: Build Sheets??
I've bought 2 3rd gen Camaros new, the build sheets were just thrown in the car at the factory. I saved them both before the cars were cleaned for delivery, the "trim" sheet were thrown in the hatch on both cars ('89 and '91) I had a '82 pace car which The build sheet was under the passenger seat springs (and did not match the vin of my car, which is common on pace cars) and my '83 Z28 was under the drivers seat, I also found a dealers invoice in a '82 under the carpet behind the drivers seat, all the cars were Van Nuys built, on My Norwood built '87 convertible, I had the interior completly out, new carpet exc.. no build sheet to be found anywhere..
