Re: buildsheet?
They can be...anywhere actually. But they're often under the carpet, under a rear seat or a front seat or even behind a door panel. On 2nd Gens, some people found it in the dashboard, behind the rear seats back, and a lot of cars had them at the top of the gas tank. On my '79, it was under the PS rear seat but it was in pieces.
Expect not to find it, or in very bad/unreadable condition.
If you don't find it, ask PHS for the original documentation about your car. They don't have the build sheets though.

Re: buildsheet?
SolarGold made a good point that the build sheet can be found just about anywhere. And other the other hand there may not have been one left in your car. There is a trim tag located on the top center of the radiator support. It will give you basic information such as color(interior/exterior),trim type/style,t-top code(CC1) along with some other codes. I have a '83 Z28 and maybe able to help some.

Re: buildsheet?
On my 83, I found it under the drivers front seat, not enough of it though to get all the codes, just some, and the price and some other things. Still on the hunt for a bonus one under the carpet, not holding my breath though.

Re: buildsheet?
The VIN will only tell you basics such as body style, engine and build plant. The Sport Coupe/Z28 share the same model designator but the Berlinetta's is unique. The VIN eighth digit is for the engine (if originally a V8 LG4 - "H" it could be a SC,Z28 or Berlinetta , the only true way to know if she were a Z28 it would be a "7" - L69 or "S" - LU5)

Re: buildsheet?
I basically just measured things out or just looked for ways to identify what I got. I measured the sway bars and the diameter matched the F41 specs. I found the axle code and determined I had the G92 rear end with 3.23 gears, along with the obvious J65/G80 rear disc and posi. I also have the custom interior, its thick carpet and the sides of the console are carpeted. I also have a light grey interior, almost white, which I like because its very rare I see a third gen with this interior. Factory t tops can be identified by a CC1 code on the radiator core support. There are also the paint codes there along with what type interior you got. I have a Z28, so I think some things you may not have with the berlinetta. I hope this helps you out.

Dellman you Z28 sounds very similar to mine. Those are good points about that you made in doing a search on the early cars. BigJon your Berlinetta would have come with the custom interior and the deluxe luggage compartment(RPO-B48) standard. Again the trim tag on the radiator support will give you trim codes/color/style.

You will find it under the central consol under the arm rest ... All the codes are there and they will tell you all you want from your car ... very usefull for the restoration ... Good luck!

I don't believe the original poster's 1983 will have that sticker as I don't believe it was yet implemented.

Re: buildsheet?
I saw that when posting on how similar our cars are. Its nice to see actually. Mine does not have power anything, but at least does have A/C. It was really rare to have the G92 for our year. I think id I was back in that day, I may have ordered it exactly the way it is now.

Re: buildsheet?
I was dissappionted when I did not find one when I replaced my carpet, but then later on when I was having the car painted they found one behind the door panel.
It was not near as informative as the RPO sticker.

Re: buildsheet?
It started sometime during the 1984 Model Year. I have the RPO SPID sticker in my car. I don't believe cars have it earlier than that. Maybe late 83 MY if you are lucky but I am hedging my bets that 84 was the first year for the sticker in the console and later the rear compartment.

Re: buildsheet?
Dellman in researching my Z it is interesting how few cars were ordered with G92. Whoever ordered my car checked off everything but the LS seats and the special Camaro interior.
L695speed I would think it was sometime in the '84 model run. My '83 is a late June build and didn't have a SPID. The console lid was split on top and the plastic was cracked making me think it was the original.
BigJon that's somewhat unusual for a Berlinetta not to at least have power windows. Does she have the 2.8 or the 305?

Re: buildsheet?
I got the same (trim buildsheet) for my 1992 Trans AM Convertible (mine is bright red, too, by the way). Mine was up behind the passenger instrument panel, around the HVAC unit. That is not the master buildsheet. The was one of few "buildsheets" in the car, though.

Re: buildsheet?
Does anyone know if you can get a rpo sheet reprinted from the dealer? My 87 TA came without the sticker (you can see where it was at one point) in the console and I'd like to know what options the car came with before tearing into the thing too much.
