Interesting find @ the junkyard

I was cruisin through the junkyard and found this switch in a 87 trans am.

Is this a facrory option??.....I never sen this before

If it is ,is it rare?
Is it worth anything?
Whats it for?

It was a factory option, RPO code UQ7. It was part of the optional subwoofer system. The switch and slider control the subwoofer system.

In addition, there should have been a radio and HVAC faceplate with the "Performance Sound" badge:


According to Frankie's figures, for 1987 (both Trans AM and GTA), the UQ7 was equipped on 1,726 Trans AM & GTAs but the option was available on other years. It was not exactly the most common option.

It was actually available starting in '84. However, the switch you have was used starting in '85.

Interestingly it was NA on the GTA & Trans Am with the L98 in 1987 in the US. It was much more common on lesser cars.
