T-Ram

How rare are they? Whats one worth? Is it a good intake or just a conversation piece?

Re: T-Ram

Before anyone else flames on you, do a . Less than 200 made. Flows pretty good. Not really worth $2500 IMO. Unless you have a 1992 Firehawk laying around without a intake.....

Re: T-Ram

Honestly they are a great piece of engeneering. The MiniRam apparently produces more power, and they are a ton cheaper. It would be the only way to make a Firehawk Clone however. Interestingly enough NOT ALL Firehawks ended up with the T-Ram. #26's intake was swaped back to a TPI and then to a miniram IIRC... Ttowner owns the car he would be able to tell you.

Also what about the 1 or 2 cars that had the sheetmetal intake, I think those might have been the 383" cars.

Sheet metal intake was on the race car and the pre-production prototype car. (there might have been only one intake switched between the cars?)

Cars #2 and #6 had a prototype sheet metal air intakes but they both had the T-Ram manifold. Rest of the cars had the fiberglass dual snorkel intakes.

There were three aluminum rodeck engines. They all started life as 366 cubes, only 26 was stroked to 383 cubes (by SLP.) #26 has the mini-ram and the other two cars have the T-Ram.

I'll try to post pics here in few....gotta feed a screaming 3 month old right now (darn priorities!)

FWIW, the T-Ram is a cool conversation piece but from a performance standpoint the super ram and mini-ram are superior pieces. A complete unit in excellent shape is worth $1,500 to $2,000 IMO.

Re: T-Ram

Alright then, how about the performance vs. the WOW factor. A buddy of mine has a mini ram on his car,but at car shows people just walk right by. They dont seem to notice "Something doesnt look right" or they think its just an LT1 swap. With a T-ram or stealth ram, people know something is different and they will ask questions.

Funny....I bring a firehawk to a large car show and 99.9% of the people walk right by w/o a second look. Sorry but the masses don't care.

Re: T-Ram

Unfortunately the Baby boomers that show up to a car show will not take a second look at a 3rd gen, no matter what it is, Firehawk, or SC. I was at the "Back to the bricks" in Indy for the pace car reunion that was also a Firebird/Camaro show, and as I stood there people were gawking over a '69 COPO Aluminum 427... I was like yeah, well ok. But as I stood there I realized that the 1982 & 1983 Camaros had different rear quarters than the 1984+ cars. I was more excited about that honestly. BUT it shows my age. When the people who were teenagers and in their early 20's in the 80's come of age and start to retire (in about 10 years) people will start to notice.

The problem we have NOW is the same problem they had 15 years ago with the 1st gens, not many people cared. it will come around, but right now no one knows when it is special... I get blank stares when I take my 1 of 42 Vert to a show and explain how rare it is to someone who is remotely interested.

I do see more interest in these cars tho, more people are making them nice, as that happens and as more of the junk is removed from the roads they will become more of an icon.

Re: T-Ram

Actually what we ended up finding is the 82 & 83 RH rear quarter has a sharper line around the wheel well flair where it meets the body. On the LEFT side the 1982 and some of the 1983's were sharp like the Right side, but some were more rounded.

That is Why I wanted to be a moderator honestly I love little useless facts for some reason.
