Congrats It's a great feeling to get featured in a magazine, for me it's that someone else appreciates what you put your effort into. I dunno if this is your first time or not but I get the same feeling every time
Congrats again

It's my first time in a magazine. Most of the time I figure no one else appreciates the crap I like to collect.

Very nice collection, Greg, congrats on the feature!
Your collection defintely makes me wish I had more room. I'd like to have a couple more 1LE's, plus some selected other cars. If only I had the space...but then we might be competing for the same cars!

Very nice, Greg. You must have a tough time deciding what to drive next. We should all have such problems. I thought I recognized that number 89 in the background. I should have asked to drive yours to compare with mine. I'd like to see your collection sometime.

Re: My Junk in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
I've been collecting parts for the JY car. Haven't done anything yet with the car. I do have a set of black Recaro seats (just like the Firehawk Recaro seats) and I'm debating if I should put those seats in or look for a set of perfect original ones.
It's my first time in a magazine. Most of the time I figure no one else appreciates the crap I like to collect.

Nice collection Greg! Wish I had more room and money too. I especially like the Firehawks...always wanted the third gen car but couldn't swing it with everything else, so I ended up with a fourth gen version of it!

Damn, impressive doesn't come close to describing. I'll have to find the magazine as well. I LOVE that collection. All the right cars IMO. Sometimes I wish I had kept my 1LE stock but then I figured, I didn't buy it to be a collectible in the first place.
Congrats on the magazine article.

one error in the thing that stood out was that it said
"most 1LE cars were built without AC"
but as we all know, this is not true...
ALL were built without AC

A 1LE without RPO B4C (like mine) would be an A/C delete car.

B4U Cars (i.e Firehawks) also had 1LE and A/C.
I've heard there are a few non B4U and B4C cars optioned w/ 1LE and AC. In 91/92 you could order the cars w/ just about anything (including T-Tops.)

Re: My Junk in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
so do you ever go to any big car shows?
I'd drive from Canada just to see them at a show.
Looks like I better go to Chapters and see if I can get that magazine.

Re: My Junk in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
It's kind of funny..... I received a call on a Wednesday afternoon. It went something like: "Hello, my name is Steve w/ MCE and I'm going to be in town for the Ford/Shelby meet. I heard from Mr. Nameless that you collect 1LE cars and I'd like to come over on Friday or Saturday for a magazine shoot."
I said "excuse me?" He said yes, I'm serious. I think our readers would really like to learn about these third generation cars, especially the racing ones.
It was Wednesday night and he was coming over in 48 hours. I just purchased the shop and the cars were all dusty and the place was a mess. Fortunately a case of beer was the master persuader to pull in the needed help short notice......

hmmm... i guess i misunderstood how you got a 1le then.
i thought you had to specifically order AC delete and a specific axle ratio...
either way, its off topic.
cool cars man.
i wish mine was as nice as any of yours.

Not much was done it it. Exhaust and 3.73 gears.... plus I took out EVERYTING that had weight and wasn't needed. It was tuned very well and ran mid 13's. The 87 and 88 5.0's were some of the fastest out of the box because they were speed density cars. My friends mom had an 86 Corvette (we snuck it out a few times.) I could pull him off the line but he would inch me out on the big end.

T-Towner, If I were you I would lock up good if I were you. I am going to school in KS and if I could round up a few buddies we could play gone in 60 seconds with your garage. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. No I am obviously kidding. Great collection I can only hope to rival something like that. I've got a list of Trans Ams for a collection but it will be a couple years before I even get started with most of them.
I believe there is another collector like you who has the Firehawk Convertible along with a whole host of other third gens and other muscle cars as well. Don't recall who it was I saw the article in HPP a year or so ago.

Re: My Junk in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
Oh there are instances where a faster car gets beat because a driver of a slower car whips his @$$. Really it comes down to your motor, your tranny, your ratios (in rear end and tranny) your weight but most of all it comes down to the driver. Unless ofc it is a serious car, a 10 second bracket racer will beat a 5.0 whatever any day no matter who is in it.

Re: My Fleet in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
Think I'm about done w/ Third Gen's F-Bodies. There are just a few specific F Body cars I'd really have to have.
Ultimately I'd like to pull together a collection of late 80's and early 90's muscle (if you can call the 80's "muscle.") I'd like to trade the 71 Hemi Cuda for an extremely nice GNX. I suppose a TTA would be needed, a syclone (or Typhoon) and......?
Cars w/ at least 4 seats that range from 1987 - 1993. (also include a 92 Viper.)

Re: My Fleet in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
IMO, cars were meant to drive and enjoy, not collect dust. Keeping the miles off #6 is already tough enough.
As with everyone else....funds are tight right now....if cash was running out the wazoo then now would be the time to pick up some nice cars at great prices. Fortunately there will always be low mileage TTA's and GNX's available. It's in times like these you hope something REALLY special pops up at a good price.
Yea, the GNX is quite the dream car..... you know, it's funny how the Firehawks are in some ways far more special than the GNX's.....but no one seems to really care.
