Re: My Fleet in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
Something just went wrong, not sure what tho.
Cosmetically the Firehawk looks just like a Formula, with aftermarket wheels. The GNX on the other hand did get special wheels AND they got some special fender flairs, the 4 port-holes and LOTS of go...
I would prefer a Firehawk, but my ultimate dream car would be a GNX powered Formula Convertible...

My father owned a GNX brand new. He is the service department manager for a Buick dealer and back in the day was the local Turbo 3.8 guru. He sold it when I was little (probably 4 or 5) along with his 61 fuelie vette His car (GNX) traded hands 2 years ago for alomost double the sticker price!!

This is not about 60's era Buicks....I know about the Gran Sport cars. But the 80's Buick Regal GN...was GRAND NATIONAL. Go look it up (ebay, Wikpedia, google) But whatever...I am done high-jacking this thread.

Re: My Fleet in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
Think I'm about done w/ Third Gen's F-Bodies. There are just a few specific F Body cars I'd really have to have.
Ultimately I'd like to pull together a collection of late 80's and early 90's muscle (if you can call the 80's "muscle.") I'd like to trade the 71 Hemi Cuda for an extremely nice GNX. I suppose a TTA would be needed, a syclone (or Typhoon) and......?
Cars w/ at least 4 seats that range from 1987 - 1993. (also include a 92 Viper.)

I think a shelby daytona, or a omni GLH would also fit the bill.
Both are relatively unknown then, and now, but the aftermarket has really stepped up in the last couple of years.

That was all shelby. . .
even though he is a crusty old bastard, he made some cool stuff.
I believe there's only 100 glhs' ?
hard to find, but they are reasonable for being so rare...

Re: My Fleet in Muscle Car Enthusiast - Feb 09 Issue
Correct I belive they were all Shelby add ons, the GLH & GLH-S.
HOWEVER The information I have is really confusing as they state that the GLH & GLH-S were both part of a Shelby project. BUT they have the GLH listed under DODGE production and the GLH-S under Shelby Production.
1985
6,513 GLH Omni - Dodge
500 GLH-S Omni - Shelby
1986
3,829 GLH Omni - Dodge
So I really do not know how it worked out... I am more interested in 3rd gens, but this alternative stuff is interesting nonetheless.
I suspect Shelby designed the GLH for Dodge Production, but he may have modified the GLH-S in-house like the Firehawks... But my book is limited in that area, when you try to compress 50 years of automobiles in a book the details are limited.

Kool kars! Never really knew about the GLH-S. Interesting little car!
I used to be obsessed w/ the Conquest TSi's. My cousin had one and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

The last (500 apparently) were transferred directly to shelby for the transformation

AAH how could I forget, I had an 89 and 87 parts car in highschool
Can beat a turbo 4, RWD, and full independent rear.
I was drifting way before drifting was cool in that thing. those cars are easy to drive sideways. . .
Me and my brother mercilessly beat that car for 4 years, and it was still running well when I sold it.
don't forget about the starion, guess you should probably add a 300zx, maybe a supra

I really appreciate your collection. That's a money-making collection if I ever saw one. Congrats on the magazine feature!
