1985 Camaro ZF V8
My first car years ago was a 1985 Camaro ZF. I do not have photos of the car, although I did manage to find one of the badges I peeled off the side of the car. Was equipped with 305 and a 700R4 with overdrive. Woodgrain dash, and a sunroof. Black stripes at the bottom of the car, I think? and the "base" body style with no ground effects or anything.
If anybody on this forum has any photos of such a car I'd love to see them, I should have kept that car but a towtruck backed through the rear end of it and destroyed it.

Re: 1985 Camaro ZF V8
I would really appreciate that, it would bring back a lot of fond memories for me to see another ZF car.
Mine did not have a posi in it, that's a really nice combination you have, I am glad to hear you are restoring the car!

I just want to subscribe to this thread. I never heard of a zf camaro. I would like to know more about this car. What makes it different from any other camaro? Where was that badge located on the car?

Re: 1985 Camaro ZF V8
What I know so far:
Chevy dealers on the east coast had a dealer installed option package for the 84-85 non-IROC Camaros which included an exterior graphics package (on my red car, that was several black stripes along the bottom edge of the car) a real wood-grain dash and console kit, an installed removable manual sunroof, and ZF badges in various places including front fenders or doors, exterior door handles, and interior dash.
Such vehicles with this dealer option package uncluded a (Edit) 2.8L V6, a 5.0L V8 and a 5.0L V8 with posi rear. That would have been the Sports Coupe models.

Whoops! Sorry about that, I thought I typed 2.8 I didn't recheck my spelling.
I did in fact mean 2.8L V6 thank you for catching that!

Re: 1985 Camaro ZF V8
This is the closest thing I'm able to find, on all of the internet some how. Though someone put iroc wheels on it, minus that this is one of the ZF optioned vehicles. Tiny pic.. that's all google has to offer.
I hope Hallsresto comes back and posts photos!

Re: 1985 Camaro ZF V8
From what I have been reading there has been a trend with the ZF cars, let me know if any of this is out of line... I did a search on TGO and found several threads with mention of the ZF, and this is what I have come up with.
From what we know...
ASC apparently did the conversion,
The ZF included the woodgrain dash and a Sunroof. Most of them appear to be a SC, I do not recall a Z28...
Anything else?
John

Re: 1985 Camaro ZF V8
Hallsresto, that picture I posted IS the large version, I google image searched 1985 camaro ZF and the full size image is 250x187 pixels, I'm not sure they they posted it so tiny but thats all I could dig up.
okfoz, the black stripes on the bottom of the car were associated with rhe ZF cars I'm not aware of other colors other than red, but my red 85 had the black stripes as pictured in the tiny photo I posted. Also in the tiny photo you can see the ZF emblems on the door handle, and the front fender as well.

Re: 1985 Camaro ZF V8
Sorry to bump an old thread... I was doing checks on my website and saw one of my pictures was linked here. That's my 1985 Red ZF Camaro in that picture. It's the only picture I had at the time and haven't taken any more since. It's currently sitting in my garage until I have the time to work on it a bit.
My first grade school teacher bought it brand new in 1985 when I was in her class. 10 years later she sold it to me with only 65K on it. Like a dumb teenager I started modding it and now wish I had left it stock....
It's a dealer installed package, I have the original build sheet. The options included were:
Pinstripping down the sides and up the hood
Removable Sun Roof (Broken into by thieves)
Wood Grain Interior (Gone now but I saved a piece)
Grant Steering Wheel
ZF Emblems all over the outside and on the dash
Other than that it's a base camaro sport coupe, mine had the LG-4 in it before I yanked it out and put in a 355. It has IROC wheels on it from my 85 IROC, originally had sport coupe wheels. I've never seen another, it's one of those really rare options that doesn't make the car worth much but is definitely a conversation piece. I have had many enthusiasts tell me the option is made up and the car is not real. Just to put an end to that nonsense I'm here to say that it is and have the factory paperwork stating so.

Re: 1985 Camaro ZF V8
Would you be willing to scan and post your information??? I would be interested in any of the ZF info specifically. The dealer information etc. If you are unsure how to do so you can email me the scanns and I will post them for you. Just black out the last couple numbers of the VIN...
I will admit, I am not an SC fan in stock form, but you put the 16" IROC wheels on and it really makes an SC look sharp. There was a black 87 SC locally that had 16" IROC rims and I always liked the looks of the car.
