Towing rate at my 89 Camaro

Hi,
I search some information about the towing rate at my Chevrolet Camaro Towing Trailer Rate. I hope you can help me answer the following answer please.
I have a Chevrolet Camaro, IROC-Z, Convertible, 1989, 305 (VIN: 1G1FP31F4KLxxxxxx) which I imported from US to Denmark in Europe. I really want to put a Hidden Trailer Hitch on it so I can tow a Caravan after the car. But I need some technical specifications or documentation at that car showing how much the car may towing. To make it legal drive with a trailer after the car the authority here in Denmark want some documentation showing the towing rate at the car (not only the hitch).
I know that there are different Classes of the hitch and of cause the hitch telling the towing rate at the hitch. But it is the towing rate at the car I need. Both if the trailer have brakes or not.
Can you help me get this technical information or Can you tell me where I can get that original documentation or can you help me get it please?
Im looking forward hear from you and hope you will help me please.

Best Regards,
Camaro1989

Re: Towing rate at my 89 Camaro

I am pretty sure the max is 500 pounds... so a trailor AND caravan is NOT going to work!! You're better off renting a truck and doing it that way.

Re: Towing rate at my 89 Camaro

I've never towed a trailer with my GTA.. But.....

I have my original owner's manual and it states the trailer should not exceed 450 kg.. Here is the text:

How heavy can a trailer safely be?

It should never weigh more than 1000 lbs, (450 KG). But even that can be too heavy. It depends on how you plan to user your car-trailer. For example speed altitude road grades, outside temperature and time in use all are important. And it also depends on any special equipment that will be on your car.
For what it's worth, you can determine how much trailer tongue weight your car can support using the load rating sticker on the driver's door frame. (Hopefully yours is still there). This sticker shows the maximum allowable weight on the front and rear axles.

For example.. My GTA door sticker says the rear gross axle weight rating (GAWR) is 946 kg.. (This is the maxium weight the rear suspension will safely support).

I weighed my car and found that my rear axle weight is 760 kg... This means the rear of my car will support 946 kg minus 760 kg = a maximum weight of 156 kg.

Your car's GAWR probably won't be exactly the same as mine, but it should be close. If your trailer tongue weighs more than 150 kg, then it's too heavy...
