How rare is the Berlinetta digital dash?
I found a Berlinetta in a junkyard near my house that has a digital dash in it and the odd looking radio controls that swivel. I couldn't take a picture of it because I didn't have my camera, but it looks to be in perfect condition. It also had a overhead console (before I took it), front and rear seats in perfect condition, door panels in perfect condition, and a rear trunk cover thing (the carpeted one that locks). How rare is that digital dash and how much are they worth now days? Is it worth pulling out of the car? Are there are special ways to take it out of the car?
Thanks,
Mike
PS - There were keys in the car so I figured I would lock all the doors, close the hood, and lock the hatch and then I of course took the keys... I have to protect my potential investment...

I believe that dash style was around for 3 model years (the entire dash shell is different, not just the guages themselves). While not the most common part, they wouldn't be considered rare either. More importantly, they aren't very desirable, therefore not very valuable. You might find just the right guy that happens to love them and want one, or more likely you'll have it sitting in your garage collecting dust for a good while. Same goes for the radio. They are hard to find in very good working condition, but again only a very small group of people desires them.
As for locking the doors and hatch and taking the key.... that's ridiculous. One, you're screwing other camaro lovers that might want parts. Two, if they really want something they'll bust out a window or smash out a lock cylinder and damage more parts that other enthusiasts might have really wanted. That's nothing to brag about. If you want the parts, take them while you're there. If you don't, let someone else have a chance. I tend to reinstall t-tops and roll up windows in junkyard cars to try to preserve the interior parts for others. Don't be selfish.

I unlocked it... now stop your complaining. Based on the time the yard opens and closes, the car was only locked for 3 hours. The guy working at the junkyard said he wanted $300 if I pull it... not worth it since I don't need it.

Three hundred is a ton of money for that stuff, There is however a market for it. I sold a digital instrument panel and the two side pods a few years ago for $75 bucks.

Re: How rare is the Berlinetta digital dash?
I don't have any working cassette decks right now. I usually have a couple ready for sale but it's been awhile since I've found someone that was serious about purchasing one. I send every Berlinetta radio out for professional service and most folks aren't willing to pay for the radio once the repairs/upgrades have been made. ( I've been using the same radio tech for over 10 years. )
I think I do have a non-cassette deck Belrinetta radio - I don't know if you have any interest in that ??!
P.S. Hi Brother Al !
