Re: Contoured Floor Mats

I believe Thomas at Eckler's said the gray interior for 87 would be the Dove Gray. I would call and verify that. When calling, press 1, then extension 444 for Thomas. Please do not call him directly for all kinds of stuff. He does not have the time to field a million calls. I will see if I can get samples of all colors and document their cross reference.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

Scott,
Your interior is the same color as my interior I would want the mats for (black is a no brainer) but the Gray may be slightly different...

When you get a sample, let me know how closely it matches.

thanks

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

Scott is going to check the color match to his car... The Gray should be the same for Camaros and Firebirds from 1985 - 1992...

Grey floor mats are in. I'll pick them up from Eckler's on Saturday and show off the grey match.

Thanks Scott. My interior is Dark Medium Gray (821). Curious to see how far off the difference.

Just a couple days delay on this. Thomas (from Eckler's) lives about an hour from the office and was almost home when he realized that he forgot the floor mats. I will have them Monday.

Absolutely amazing! Here are the pics. They are an exact match. Eckler's and ACC did an outstanding job as they are a perfect match in color and shape. I'm very happy with this. Dove Gray.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

Not to dull your fire or anything Scott, but that looks like exactly the same shape as the one I got from ACC a couple of weeks ago. Can't speak for the color match for stock carpet though, as my carpet was black, and black is pretty easy to match. Even the same stitching around the edges. I'm happy with them.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

Are they contoured for the passenger floorpan? If so, then you probably got the first set sold to the public. Nobody had floormats that contoured to the pasenger floor until now. ACC used my factory originals to design the contour for a perfect factory match. They have had the contour design in place for a few weeks now, as I have the first example shown in black. I just ordered my grey ones to check the match and they are perfect.

Ah. Awesome. Yea, they're contoured. Got them in the 1000 threadcount to match the new passenger area carpet I got. So I guess I have you in part to thank for the awesome floormats. Good job!

If you have a wornout set of original mats(or can find a set from a junkyard car), remove the emblems, clean 'em up, and affix them to the new mats.

Already planning on doing that. I will then use the old mats on top of the new mats when going to shows and cruises so that the new ones will never get dirty.

Those grey Ones look awesome! How much are they. I wont need the saddle ones for my iroc-z becuase the original owner had already bought an extra set for the car when it was brand new.. in fact there still sealed up in the box in the back of the car.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

I was in need of new floor mats as mine were just old, worn, etc, so after finding this thread and pondering it for awhile, I ordered a set. I have to say, these are absolutely perfect. They fit perfectly, with the right shape. I also discovered that the mats I was tossing out were most definately not factory. They were extremely vaguely the correct shape, but only in a rudimentary one size fits all deal. The new ones are excellent, and this is for a 91 Trans Am. The black matches the carpet almost exactly for the age. So, order away, I love mine!

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

an old post i know, but i just wanted some clarification.

i need new floormats since i just got and installed a new ACC carpet from 1AAuto a few months ago.

BLACK

i looked on ecklers and in classic industries and a few other places.
ecklers: only carries either plain black mats for 1987 or ones with the z28 logo ( i want either "IROCZ" in there or "camaro") i couldnt find this for 1987 on ecklers

i do want the fully contoured mats (for pass side foot-well) but noplace on ecklers does it say contoured to floorpan.

does jim (i think jim85iroc) make these mats still and would he be able to have IROC or CAmaro embroidered?

1aauto: has them in black, just plain, no embroidery either.

did something on the floorpan change in 1988.. if not then why does ecklers only offer these http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product...dept%5Fid=1627 from 1988-1990 ?

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

I just bought 2 sets from Ecklers 2 weeks ago I got part number 714277, one in Gray, one Black, they are awesome. The only thing they do not have is the little GM logo, which is understandable as that is a propriatary thing. They ARE contoured for the Passenger side, and they fit perfect. The Drivers mat does not require forming, likewise the rear mats are simply flat.

When I did my search Ecklers was the best price...

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

I read thru this thread since I wanted some new mats. The Ecklers look to be very nice mats, and the embroidering is cool. I was on a budget though, and could do without that as long as mine were molded for the front passenger bump.

I ended up getting a set of cut-pile ACC mats for $77 from rockauto.com. I've bought a lot of other parts from rockauto, and as usual was happy with their prompt shipping and the good value for the money. I don't think the ones from rockauto are available in as many colors, and I had to do without the cool embroidering, but the color match to my blue interior is perfect, and the molded shape, back nubs, pile quality etc is all very nice.

Just tossing it out there for a 'mid-option' - for those who want something better than flat universal WalMart mats, but maybe don't have the dough for the top-flight Eckler mats....

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

Why are you saying you got a mid option? You paid the same price I did for the Eckler's mats I bought. Did the price go up? I also always get emails with 15% or 20% discounts at Ecklers, so I would use that. If RockAuto sent you ACC mats, then you probably got the same quality mat as the rest of us. Someone should call ACC and ask if there is a difference. Eckler's is getting them from ACC.

John, if you paid more than you should have, you need to call Eckler's and ask a refund!!

I don't make them myself, but I can get them with the IROC or CAMARO embroidery. The IROC embroidery is cheesy looking (not the right font) so I went with the CAMARO embroidery on my personal set.

Feel free to PM me for more info.

Sorry if I missed/overlooked part of the thread. I just poked around at the Ecklers site, and noticed their prices were higher - likely because theirs are embroidered with 'Z28' etc. Mine are not. It could be, you got more (got the embroidering) but didn't pay any more due to the discounts. I was only comparing default prices.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

I didn't get any discounts when I ordered my floor mats from Eckler's and I paid about $75 for a set of 4 mats with no embroidery. Did Eckler's prices go up? I haven't checked. If they have gone up more so than everybody else, I'd buy from everybody else!! I think Jim's prices were reasonable also. Again, I don't know if prices have gone up across the board or not. All I'm saying is that the price you paid is probably for equal quality mats, just at a better price.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

Your info is consistent with mine. Here is what I know about floor mats for these cars:

1. There's the ultra-budget path (what I had in my car recently) - - non-contoured mats from WalMart. ~$20

2. There's the mid-budget path (what I just got) - - contoured mats with no emblems or embroidering by ACC, from rockauto or Ecklers. ~$75 or 77.

3. There's the premium-budget path - - contoured mats with embroidered emblems by ACC, from Ecklers. ~$125

I checked the Eckler's Camaro site, which is now Rick's Camaro's, and part number 714277 doesn't turn up any results. In fact, all I found were overpriced embroidered and LLoyd's mats. Where is another good source to buy these?

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

I just called Eckler's to see what's going on with these. The guy was able to locate the part number 714277 in the system as the floor mat without embroidery at $99/set. I asked why they weren't listed online and he didn't know. I also looked at their part number 713993, which includes the embroidery, and asked why Dove Gray wasn't listed as a color. He said he didn't know and would have someone look into this. If you call them today, ask for a discount since you couldn't order online!! They offered me 10% off.

The picture of my floor mats above were ordered as 714277 in Dove Gray. That changed the part number to 714299. Each color will change the last two numbers.

woah, i forgot about this post and a while back i wanted to post pics of how Jim's floormats fit in the car.

many months ago I ordered a set of 4 floormats from Jim Irace. Black carpet and red camaro lettering (on only the front 2 mats) below are pics. teh quality is spectacular. highly recomended. price was great too.

dont let the camera fool you. the mats are not grey. they are a dark black.

the pass. side mat is molded to fit nicely into the strangevalley/bump that is in the floor of the pass side of our cars. no wrinkles or anything.

Not to sound naive, but who is Jim Irace, and how did you order them? They look great.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

I believe Jim gets his mats from the ACC also, so ACC is probably using the same mold for all suppliers of 3rd gen mats. I posted the prices of Eckler's mats above. If Jim sells them for equal or less, we should support his business.

Z-man, thanks for the pics. The mats look great in your car. If anybody has any questions about the mats, please feel free to send me a PM.

many months ago I ordered a set of 4 floormats from Jim Irace.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

Hate to bump old threads, but where can I get these? There seems to be a lot of options at ACC and Ecklers. Which are these exactly?

2. There's the mid-budget path (what I just got) - - contoured mats with no emblems or embroidering by ACC, from rockauto or Ecklers. ~$75 or 77.

3. There's the premium-budget path - - contoured mats with embroidered emblems by ACC, from Ecklers. ~$125
#2 above has some options as well. Rockauto sells Cutpile or Essex....Cutpile is OEM style carpeting.

What is Essex and how is it different than standard Cutpile?

This carpet is a super plush upgrade to our standard Cut Pile. Standard Cutpile is ¼ inch high whereas Essex is 3/8 inch high. It gives your interior a plush, luxurious interior. Essex can be specified for just about any model vehicle. It is made from 100% nylon cut pile carpet manufactured with over 40% more nylon fiber than our standard Cut Pile. It is dyed using the finest dyes available and tested for ozone humidity fading & light fastness. It comes in 76" widths & can be rubber latex or polyethylene backed.

Rock Auto prices are $74 vs 111 for Cutpile vs Essex. Adding embroidered emblems to either is another $22-35.

ACC also offers the same Cutpile or Essex options as well as Loop or Nylon options.

Re: Contoured Floor Mats

Great thread!

Shopping at Rockauto for these mats for 877 code and 1989. My interiors code is 822...? I don't understand.

It is showing two items for the '89 and not "822" as my SPID shows:
1. 940989CUTPILE Color: OE Color - Dove Gray (877)Trans Am Floor Mat 4pc (FM04); Driver 26 X 16 1/4. Pass 24 1/2 X 18. Rears 13 1/2 X 15 7/8.
2.936389CUTPILE Color: OE Color - Dove Gray (877)Floor Mat 4pc (FM04); Driver 26 X 16 1/4. Pass 24 1/2 X 18. Rears 13 1/2 X 15 7/8.

What is the difference? One says "Trans Am" and the other does not. Same price. Trans Am floor mats were the same. Would like to get a set, but need to clarify what I am getting... Appreciate any help if anyone knows. Will send them an email if noone knows.
