Build Date?
Does anyone know how I can find the build date of my car? I've heard it would be on the build sheet, but I've found the build sheet and there was not a date on it. At least, I guess its the build sheet. I found it behind the passenger door panel when I was changing the window motor. My scanner is busted, so I can't post a picture of it.
Anyway, I was putting a new stereo in the car the other night, and on the quality control stickers, and manufacture date stickers. One said June, 1992; the other said July 1992. My car must be a pretty late build, I'm guessing. When did GM stop producing third gens?

Re: Build Date?
Take a look at this. This is what I found behind the passenger door panel while replacing the window motor. It literally just fell out onto the ground when I removed the bottom clips. Apparently I was the first person to remove that door panel
Anyhow, I was expecting it to have a build date, but unless its a code or something, I ain't seeing it. Should I be on the lookout for something else when I re-do the interior this winter?

Re: Build Date?
Mine is a 85 Iroc. The last six digits are 151486. Can you tell me if this would have been built in 84 or 85?

What would be the exact build date of my car. It is an 85 Iroc from the norwood ohio plant and the last six digits are 151486.

Re: Build Date?
I would really like to know the birth date for my Camaro.
Van Nuys 1990 RS
last 6 : 107898
I found a panel that had 9/14/89 written in chalk. I know ALL 90 Camaros were built in 89.
Thanks, Frank in Fort Worth

Re: Build Date?
How does this apply to convertibles? Mine was converted by ASC in mid 1990. The sequence number in the VIN from the GM Van Nuys plant is 241480 and it was delivered back to Pontiac (not a dealer) after the conversion. Can you tell the date it was produced as the pre-conversion car by this number? Thanks.

Re: Build Date?
the body tag under the hood, usually on the rad support
two numbers and a letter, together
by itself,
all you can get off it though is the month and week
what is your code ?
its simple to convert it to month and week
but for the day i dont know how other than buildsheet or something else
everyone has the month and week on their body tag
if i searched for a while i could find a thread of mine from in the past where i learned about this, and from who here i learned it from
because i have forgotten who
it will be in the history and resto board
why are you guys so bent on knowing what day anyways ?
whats the big deal ?
blame GM for not keeping records for us
good luck!

Re: Build Date?
On 82-84 cars, if you can find the build sheet it will have a date at the bottom of box 1. This is the schedule build date. However, keep in mind that it’s not exact. A car can start on one day and roll off the line the next day. There can also be production delays and other thing and can throw the days off. So you can get close but it may not be 100% accurate all the time.

Re: Build Date?
yeah
my buildsheet was already missing, someone already had the car interior apart at one point in the past probably when they repainted the car, so all i have is the body tag, and vin plate and thats it
i will never know what RPO codes it was built with unfortunately
some ppl are lucky and find an 82 83 build sheet and others arent
ppl are really good about finding and then losing important papers, and thereby screwing over future owners
but in my case i dont really care much since mine is just another late in the year regular LG4/200c equipped trans am WS7 that they sold billions of, and that needs new rear quarters, and a fender, and other repairs that cause it to not be worth much and only really good as a beater DD
almost any other 82 83 84 is/would be more interesting/lower production
