Re: Camaro Question After 1990
Z28 was a mandatory part of an IROC from '88 to mid '90 when the contract expired.'85-'87 you had Z28 as a separate option on the Sport Coupe then B4Z was an option on it.Then in mid '90 the Z28 ID was used once again.Everything would have transferred, standard and optional equipment, with trim and color changes since the Z28s were actually a '91 model.I hope i'm explaing this correctly.

Re: Camaro Question After 1990
Really after 1990 the cars cosmetically changed, the ground effects were all different, the hood was different, obviously the spoiler was different on the 91-92 Z28 than the earlier camaro.
As far as the suspension pieces I am not sure if the Wonderbar was installed on the 91-92 years.

Re: Camaro Question After 1990
My fault for not specifying, aside from visual differences, did the suspension in 90-92 z28's change from that of the 88-90 Irocs.

No, the 91-92 Z28's did not come with a wonderbar.
Yes the suspensions were different on the 91-92 Z28s. The IROCs had Bilstein shocks, the Z28's had Decarbon shocks. The spring rate was slightly stiffer on IROCs, too.

Go IROC-Z's! Although, it has been rumored that some early cars recieved the wonderbar as left over parts.

Didn't 91/92 use that special glue in the body seams in addition to spot welds so it was supposed to be a lot stiffer? Maybe it didn't need the wonderbar?

Re: Camaro Question After 1990
They used that stuff, but it didn't make much difference. I've still seen low mileage 91 and 92's with the stress crack over the top of the window on non-T-Top cars.

Re: Camaro Question After 1990
It was discovered in Aviation 50+ years ago that sharp corners are a BAD thing. I want to think that it was the DeHavilland Commet that killed many people due to sharp corner construction in the window area.
SO 40 years later GM did not think that the sharp corner would matter? Honestly if I ever own a 3rd gen hard top car which I intend to drive I will be installing the reinforcement brackets in the door jamb that were used on the verts & T-top cars.
I have seen V6 cars with the stress crack, one guy said it was there after hitting a Rail road track hard.

Re: Camaro Question After 1990
I have a 1991 vert and it has a wonder bar. could have been put on by a previous owner, could be factory, maybe on verts only, i dunno. but it's there.

really.. I can't say I can recall seeing any extra reinforcement brackets in my t-top car vs. my current hard top. do you have a pic or anything? I'm very curious, thanks.

Re: Camaro Question After 1990
are you 100% positive that decarbon shocks were on 91-92s??
I know they came on 93 F-bodies and thought that was the first year.
The 5.0 TPI Z28 came with 235/55/16 as standard equipment in 91-92
