GM secret stashes
For those of you who are keen on trying to find the secert stashes of cars that GM is hiding from us.
I went on a trip to Michigan last year and one of the places we saw was the GM Heritage Center. This is none other than one of the stashes of cars that GM is not showing to the public cept for showing them at various shows and museums across the country. There were 150 cars there and that is only the tip of the iceberg. (800 cars or so in actual GM collection)
SOME PICS
IF YALL WANT MORE OF THAT EYE CANDY I HAVE ABOUT 100 PICS FROM THAT DAY

Where in MI is this?
I've seen various cars from this collection in the past (Fall Hershey, AACA Museum, etc)... but I'd be interested in taking a trip one day... anything I have seen, quality was top notch...

Unfortunetly one of my buddies dad works at GM and he was the one who got us into the place. The building is right near one of the Chrysler plants near detroit. I will have to ask exactly where the town is because i don't remember. They also have an archive for those of you who want to get info about your cars. But as i stated before its not open to public but it is open to parties, conventions etc. Like if i wanted to throw an 75th birthday bash for my dad then i could hold it there.

I have seen that before, I actualy got to sit in the Banchee a few years back. Possibly the most uncomfortable car in the world... Square Steering wheel was strange too...
Ford has one where they stack the cars 3 and 4 high on large shelves, the ONLY person that I know of to see that one was put in a blacked out Limo and he did not know where he was at all, He was doing a project for Ford and needed research so they took thim there...

Neat.
I always enjoy looking at the GM garbage cans, whether they be production or non-production, old or new models

That's right. GM is working with Classic Chevy Int'l and Worldwide Camaro Club to host a 50th Anniversary for the 57 Chevy and a 40th Anniversary for the Camaro in Detroit. They cancelled the Fbody Gathering at the Corvette Museum because they want everyone at this show. They will be giving tours of the Heritage Center during the show.
GM has also given the automotive press access to their secret warehouses by driving them in a blacked out limo. I have heard that these people were also blindfolded, for extra measures.

Thats the only third gen F-body in the place at the time (first set of pics) Theres bits and pieces of it in some other pictures but not worth looking at it. It was nose to tail with the TA stationwagon.
I didn't take any pics of the 15th anni. bird bec I personally have an 84 thats grey and silver.
The pics look great when you blow them up but i don't know exactly if it is a high resolution pic.

Oh yeah, I used to have a Hot Rod magazine wherethey let those guys in there. Pretty neat stuff. I remember some of the cars in those pics, like the Banshee Firebird. And that green (95-ish?) Monte Carlo is sweet. It is rear wheel drive and if I remember correctly has a 400 or 406 small block in it, they even had a petition for the readers to sign and send to G.M to try to get the Monte Carlo returned to a RWD V-8 platform. I also remember a red L-98 IROC test car with a 4 wheel steering setup, they decided not to release that in to production because they thought the average driver could not handle it. I think there was a V-12 Cadillac and a Caprice wagon with a complete Vette drivetrain including independent rear. There are some nice toys in there.

Yea I still have that article. Here are two more of the wildest cars in the building along with a sweet 69 camaro vert. The Mako Shark vettes will follow later. I would love to take that geo down the strip just once (blow up the pic and yall will see why) and top out the vette prototype at 225. The Monte Carlo in the pic green one is indeed a 400hp + stormer rear wheel drive hooked up to a six speed and fat tires out back. wider too.

I thought it was called something other than LSR. The headlights are an original equipment. I have video of that car running at night. They may have had covers like they do on some of the prototype race cars. Also there were a few versions of it Long tail and short tail. short tail may be the one without the headlights.

It actually appears that the silver car pictured was the short tail, as it looks like it might be too close to the wall to be the long tail. It might be the angle of the picture makes it deceptive... Although the pictures I have of the short tail had a wing as well that is not in that picture. Of course this may be a differnt car altogether, or it might be the long tail...

Here is what I was able to dig up.
The picture you have there is indeed the "Long" Version, the other is more stubby, as you can see from these older pictures they have changed the car. And as you can see there are no headlights.
I found a mention of an "89 version" I believe this is a different car than what I have posted the car you posted might be the "Aerotech II." Of coures if memory serves we did make 3 windshields, so there may have been a 3rd car with the headlights.

entirely possible but only GM knows all so but from the looks of it its entirely possbile there were three. I think the one I posted may have been the one that ran the endurance records because of night time running.
