Hello, I am new to the website, I am currently restoring an 88 trans am gta. The other day I noticed a T/A with nascar emblems for sale, I have read up online about these. This is an 81 nascar turbo t/a in great condition for 5000 (an old man owns it and hurt his back) it is all original and has low miles. Is this a good buy, I read there were 2000 made, what years does this include? Also if anyone has any other good links or information could you please provide it.

 

While this is a 2nd gen and may get locked because its not 3rd gen related those really are some good looking cars.What sux is the 301 turbo that came in them was sooo slow.0-60 in the 10 or 11 second range.I would still think that a low mileage 2nd gen in good shape and being a special model would be a good buy at 5gs.

 

The 301 is a really really terrible engine, turbo or not. The car may have some collector value. For 5000 it better not have any rust anywhere.

 

I thought they were worth a good amount of money as they were 1 of 2000 I believe this has the red/black interior.

 

Although they are really nice looking cars, they are pig slow and the values are not terribly high. They are slowly increasing though. 5K isn't bad if it is a solid and complete car.

 

NOT third gen but it is a good buy if it is in good condition such as NO or VERY little rust. good luck
