I just bought 1992 RS

Hi am new this forum and I did a search on here before I asked this ??? but couldn't find the answer. So here is the ??? I bought 1992 RS with t'tops for my son $3,200 high mileage car, on the right side rear bumber it has the RS badge and below it has a LT1 badge TheVIN numbers 161FP23E4NL169901 shows the motor to be the L03. So I'm trying to figure out what I have bought. I don' know if some previous owner just stuck it on or what. New Red 1992 RS owner

The "best" engine that could have came in that car from the factory would have been the LO3 (305 TBI Engine, 170 HP). Plenty of people have swapped LT1 engines into 3rd gens so its possible. You should be able to tell though...either post pictures of the engine or tell us what it looks like:

this is what a LO3 engine looks like (similar to a carbed engine):

This is what an LT1 looks like:

Or maybe a TPI engine was swapped in and called an LT1 (since they look kinda similar):

Mack6 thanks, It is a TBI, and someone more than likely stuck the LT1 badge on it. Still happy with the car though. Was that a good price for the car?? Just asking

well it depends...we dont really know much about the car and havent seen any pictures. Most people are going to say that you overpaid because of what it is and the fact that it has high miles. How many miles is "high"? Personally i think its a decent price if the car is in really good shape and doesnt need anything...
