tire coding
I have a 1984 Firebird S/E model that according to the build sheet originally had 215/65R15 tires on it from the factory. Someone swapped to 215/60R15's and that is a bit shorter tire. I am planning to go to the 235/60/15 to regain the original height of 26 inches.
Now that I look at the build sheet, the size stated is 215/65R15 and immediately after that it has the following letters... "WLTR" I am guessing that it means that it originally had raised White Letter tires on it from the factory? If so, I am going to find some and put them on so it looks like it originally did from the factory. Am I interpreting this correctly? Thanks!

Yes you are. They came with Goodyear eagle gts on them with the raised white lettering. I believe Coker tire now reproduces them or will be in the near future.

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate the help and especially the identification of the original tire make and type! I'm going to contact Coker tire and see what they have. If nothing else, I'll go with the BF Goodrich Radial TA's as I can get them easily and inexpensively right now. I would like to at least see what the orignal type would cost first. Thanks again!
