1982 Firebird in "The Junkman" (1982)

I just rented the movie "The Junkman" (considered by many to be the sequel to the original "Gone in 60 Seconds") and it briefly features a 1982 Firebird. I thought I'd share some stills I captured from the DVD.

And it goes to show the elusive chrome trim on 3rd Gens does exsist. But the white walls and wire wheel covers remind me of the '95 Olds 88 my Parents had.....LOL.

I always knew they had chrome trim around the windows...but I never knew it had chrome trim along the lower part of the body. I am seeing that right??

1982TA I think that's a black/silver or black/white stripe but I could be wrong. On a similar note are those open headrest seats? Were the PMD seats the only ones of this type or did the base seats,or optional besides the PMDs,have a similar setup?
I know you can get replacement chrome outer door handles(they fit other GM models don't they?).But I imagine getting the upper window molding in chrome would be fun.

Those are the PMDs...if you look at the fifth picture down, you can make out an opening in the passenger side seat.

That white stripe along the bottom of the door....that's not from the factory, right? I don't think they offered a stripe like that one...

Awesome! So that's pretty much how my firebird would have looked brand new. Interesting. I wonder if mine had the hubcaps or "rallys".

Awesome find. Thanks for posting!

What is really interesting is, my car had front/rear California plates on it when I got it. Too weird!!!

That "stripe" definatley looks like chrome trim to me, sort of like on the G-Body Grand Prix's. It's the the top edge reflecting, so it looks like a stripe. In another photo that shows sort of a front/side shot, you can make out the panel better...

That firebird seems like the equivilant to our Chevy Berlinetta. Seems "Luxerious" with the whitewalls, chrome trim, and spoked wheels. Anyone else think this?

apparently this movie holds the Guinness World Record for most number of vehicles/planes wrecked in one movie. Any Firebirds get wrecked? I've never seen the movie.

Ah, The first pic never loaded for me. That looks like a stripe, but the 5th pic makes it look like a reflection from the ground.

Well, I did some more investigating on this chrome molding, and it appears to be chrome molding, not a decal stripe or a reflection. I checked my parts and illustration catalog for 1982 and it shows lower door molding in the body section.
There were two option codes listed:

BW2 Exter. Orna. - Body Side Mldg - Deluxe
BX2 Exter. Orna. - Body Side Wide Lower Mldg.

No Firebirds were wrecked in this movie...actually, at the end of the movie, the main character gives his daughter this red Firebird for her 16th birthday. I'll get a shot of that up soon.
