Strange Recaro on Ebay...is it legit???
I was looking on Ebay and came across a 1982 Recaro T/A for sale. When I saw it, I figured it can't be a true Recaro because for one it's not black and gold, nor does it have the gold rims. It does, however, have the correct Recaro seats. It also has some recaro decals and pinstriping on the sides, and a recaro decal on the left headlight cover. The car is red with black stripes. I asked the owner if it had been repainted since the Recaros are susposed to be black and gold.
Here is the reply I got back:
"I asked a local pontiac about that when I was looking onto
buying this car. He said the were approx. 80 of these cars built.
10 were white with balk interior, the rest were red with black
interior. With the exception of the primer on the rear quarter
this is the factory original paint. The dealer I asked was Dennnis
Mecham, he is the son of or former Governer, Evan Mecham.
Mecham pontiac was the Dealer that made the Macho T/A in the
late 70's. This car is completely stock as it left the factory. I have
seen Recaro clones and they usually don't have the correct
head rests on the seats."
So...is this some sort of different Recaro or is this just another case of an uniformed seller???

So you could get recaro seats as a dealer option without the actual "Recaro" package? I thought in '82 the Recaro seats only came in charcaol, not tan.
