I'm a big fan of the yellow too. I'll try to dig up some of the pix I have, of yellow ones I've seen for sale in the past. Here's a couple....

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
I just posted another thread with some factory pics of a yellow IROC, before the car ever left Norwood. Pics from 1986. It's missing the front ground effects, as all Camaros are in those pics, because they can't get onto the car haulers without scraping their ground effects. I guess they are installed later at the individual dealer. If ever there was any doubt of yellow IROCs, there is no longer any

I own a yellow '85 IROC-Z. It came with the gold wheels and decals but with the re-paint I changed that to dark charcoal. I never cared for the gold. Looks much better to me. Intrerior is tan. Engine is L69 with 5-speed. Also added 145 mph speedo and overhead console. Replaced rear drums with a posi rear form an 88 GTA with rear discs. Have not seen another yellow IROC in Wisconsin. Would love to know how many were made.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
I grew up in Waterbury Connecticut and there were a few floating around in the mid-late 80's. A neighbor had a yellow 1985 Iroc with gray or black interior and T tops they had bought brand new. Their daughter burned it somehow (she said it was a cigarette, but it was burned right to the ground). They bought a near identical replacement in 1987.
I suspect that other than the usual casualties, many were repainted in the 90's when the blues, greens and teals were popular. In states like Connecticut with strict emissions laws, many 80's cars fail and get taken off the road and are stashed in backyards and garages.

Here's mine. Its an '86 5-speed car with tan interior that I bought from the original owner whose parents let him order it for a 16th birthday present. It has 86k original miles and he ordered pretty much every option but the rear window washer and G92. Luckily, he kept every scrap of paperwork from the day he ordered it until I bought it from him in a binder with each page in clear plastic sleeves.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
My Uncle has a yellow 85 IROC. He is the only owner and watched it come off the truck after he bought it. It has the black and gray interior. Not sure how many miles but one year he let my aunt drive it and she didn't care for it very well and ran it out of oil. After that it sat for almost 10 years in my grandmothers driveway. It was terrible. Last year he started restoring it and it now has a brand new engine and a brand new paint job. I can't wait to see it finished, but seeing as it took 10 years to start, it might be awhile...
I found out today that his is one of the cars that got the L69 H.O. engine. I heard that they didn't make them for very long. Now that I know this I'm going to pester him until that thing is back on the road again.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
yellow is one of the most rare colors ... with copper being the most rare, if i remember right (also, i dont think any of the factory copper ones were ever sold to anyone but high level GM guys, with less than 5 made ) not 100% sure on that, as i dont have access to the book anymore (my buddy Rob Bruns had a book from GM that had everything about the 3rd gens in it, but he passed and i dont remember the name of that book)

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
Anybody ever seen the NBC made-for-TV movie "Crash Course"? It was one of those ones where they'd get a bunch of the sitcom stars to make a movie. Alyssa Milano was in it, the kid from Mr. Belvedere, Olivia D'Abo, Tina Youthers, the court reporter from Night Court and also Jackee from 227. Jackee had a yellow IROC and the dude from Night Court crashed it (not hard, though).

Car: Yellow 85 IROC [Rare 1 of 205 GU6]
Engine: 5.0 TPI(30-over w/forged internals)

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
Thought I'd add mine to the thread. Bought as second owner in `94 w/72k on it. Has April 1984 manufacture date on door tag. Stock except for mechanical upgrades: Complete rebuild [Less than 1k]: blueprinted motor, .030 over, 2.02 valves
with forged internals, mild cam, dual roller tc, 18.5 injectors, and NASCAR spec built/kitted trans. Brakes completely redone on all four corners. Has all options except split rear seat back, including full roof console, posi and aluminum drive-line. Black LS Conteur interior [Striped Camaro lettering] w/power driver's seat is still in great condition. I swapped out the 85mph speedo with a 145 mph since it'll do nearly 85 barely into 3rd gear [What was GM thinking???]. May put her up for sale this summer. Still tormenting myself on that pending decision.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
Has ANYONE EVER seen an 87 YELLOW FACTORY CONVERTIBLE? I've searched & searched & cannot even find a picture of one. 87 would be the only year yellow vert could be possible. RPO & BIN would prove authenticity.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
EDIT: Never mind. I'm a dope. I read the white book a little closer to discover that yellow 88's didn't come in IROC, only sport coupes therefore could not have been built with 5.7. But hey, that makes the car I just bought even more rare. I'll post pix when it gets here to CA. It will go great in my garage with my Black 87 IROC convertible. I'm a huge Steelers fan and since I had a black one I had to also have a yellow one in the garage.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
Its now 2016 and I think I might have just bought that car from a guy who might have recently bought it and flipped it to me. I'd be interested in tacking down the previous owners because the SPID label is missing. Some dummy tossed it out when he replaced the console lid!!!! Doh! never ever do that.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
According to the Camaro White Book they did NOT make a yellow IROC convertible EVER. from 85-87 all yellow cars were coupes (hard or T-top) They did build at least one yellow convertible in 1988 because it's in FL and for sale right now but it is not an IROC.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
If it doesn't and only has the (RPO) Z28 which is what I suspect it will have. Then you have what looks like an exceptional example of a 1985 Z28 without the optional IROC performance package. I'd be happy with that unless it was misrepresented when you bought it and you were told that it was an IROC.

Like he said, beautiful car, but not an IROC-Z.

Re: Did they ever make a yellow IROC?
It was my mistake. It is not an IROC but is a Z28. It wasn't sold to me as an IROC but I misread the VIN. My first Chevy. Was a diehard Mustang fan so let's see how it goes with this.. Car is def. mint..
