Sniff,Sniff? How 'bout cryin like a little girl. Huge, total, apalling bummer. I love my 'vert, and while nothing is immpossible, I think that car is wasted. Has lots of good convertible parts though.

I fixed one that was hit just like it 6 years ago. It was'nt easy, but far from imposible. A kid who worked for the dealership got hit, found a doaner car, and brought them both in the shop. After a rough pull, the drivetrain was taken out, we took the upper and lower rails off at the factory locations of both cars and basically rolled the good front end with suspention in tact, up the the wrecked one and welded it back together.

It was a little tricky welding it up enough to roll it back on the frame machine so it could be measured and final welded, but it turned out great. If it was'nt for the fresh paint in every little area under the hood (verses the factory missing a lot of spots) you would never know it was wrecked.

In the case of a convertible, the rough pull to square up the car before cutting off the front rails is even easier, because ragtops pull like butter in the cowl section. I wish it was closer, i'd have it, i have a doaner car for everything but the sheet metal. All third gens used the same upper and lower rails.

Looks like some pretty seriours frame damage. If you are dedicated and have the funds it could be done. If my GTA got wrecked like that I would fix it no questions asked even if it had to sit for years until I could afford it.......

Awwwwww Man! What a wreck, never seen a Camaro hit that bad. Any worse and the car would look like it fell in a Compacting Machine. I would not even buy that, maybe for parts, but man I hate to say it, but what a POS. It looked gorgeous too before hand, what the he|| happened? Lets please drive safely with third gens, they are the only great muscle cars left.

Wow! My car only with a Tan top. Lets seem mine is one of 1254, oh make the 1253!
Really sad to see and folks, IT'S TOTALLED. I parted a 92 Z28 with way less damage up front and no body shop would touch it. There's a lot more bent than the front end. I betcha it's bent back around the console too.
Sad

I agree with the majority of you...originally it looked to me like it was damaged beyond repair as well. And even if you could, would you want to? My friend's '91 Z28 is a salavage title, and was welded together behind the rear seats, all the way acorss the car. I didn't buy it because I didn't wanna restore a car that had been damaged that bad...to me, this one would be no better.

It would probably make one heck of a parts car. Probably a nice interior if you like beige. I wouldn't trust much in the engine compartment, I bet the serpentine system on the driver side is busted. The rear is gonna be a stock 3:08 posi drum rear with 5spd. Auto would have 2:73 posi drum.
I could use the top for my 89 so if anyone buys it, let me know!

my dad is a body man and we have repaired and painted many cars together. that car is so jacked. i am sure that there is more damage there than can be seen. if it was only the front clip, you could weld another one on. but as far as it is pushed over, there has to be damage to the cowl and firewall. and the floor could very well be buckled also. keep in mind it is a convertable too, not the strongest chassis in the world anyway. what a shame though.

Tell me about it rob. She actually posts on nethirdgen under the name peachie. I was hoping she'd part the car herself, i was gonna try to score the top as a replacement for mine since mine is starting to show it's age.

Ed,
My 40K mile 92 top is perfect, I love the lining. It seems to protect the outer top from damage.
I want a 91/92 frame for my 89 RS, that way I can add a liner. I also like the lines of the 91/92 frame better then the earlier version. I plan on putting the next top on myself. It does not look that hard. Not like the x-frame top on my 71 Impala, what a nightmare!
