How long can my Z sit in my garage
Hey everyone,
I have a 82 Z28 that I've been working on and last year, the motor decided to call it quits. Anyway, I've been saving for a ZZ4 and decided to do the tranny and rear over, also the interior. This is going to take some time, also need to save the money. How long can a car sit or be stored before new parts start turning? It's in a semi-heated garage. Should the car be on jackstands? Any help would be great, thanks.

Unless its going to sit over a year you don't need to worry about jackstands. Also if your tires are bald (like just about every thirdgen) there isn't any point to putting the car on stands for storage anyway. Given the relatively weak frame of our cars, there really isn't any good way to support the car with stands for long periods. If you were dealing with a long storage period it might cause the tires to flat spot, but other issues like dry rotting would then be a concern.
