Camaro, the Third Generation by Michael Lamm

I bought the 3rd printing around Christmas time. I just scored the 1st printing on Ebay for $10. It came in last night and I started reading about it. For any of you that are interrested in thirdgen history, I'd strongly reccomend this book. It's hard to find, but not impossible. The 1st printing seems to pop up on Ebay from time to time. The 3rd printing is nearly impossible to find. I had to shell out $50 for a copy. Anyway, Willie is the one that turned me on to these books, and they're by far the best resource I've found so far. Every other Camaro book I have has always has some sort of mistakes, which makes me less likely to trust the rest of the info. These books attain a whole other level with first-hand accounts and most information coming directly from the folks that were involved with the design of the thirdgens. Great, great books.

Agreed. I have yet to find any mistakes in either printing, unlike every other reference I have.

Thanks to Willie, I have the 1st and 2nd copies, and I just finished the second one when I was on vacation. Other than an obscure statement about 87-up 2.8s having aluminum heads (only FWD cars got them), these two books are FLAWLESS...

1st edition was in 81. 3rd edition was in 87. I'd guess that yours is the 2nd edition.

Thanks. I see someone snagged the other copy that was on half.com. But you can always put it on your "wish list", then if someone puts one up for sale you will snag it. But mine's on the way.

I don't know, a book that had its last printing in 87 can't have much info. I take it the book only covers up to 87?

Correct. I must have the first and third editions, because I have one that goes to '87. The books are more about the R&D of the car than anything else. Also, the third edition has an interesting chapter on IROC development.

Just got the book. '87 print date makes it the third printing. 8^)
