I really wanted to get it as a collectors item. but it has a 350 in it. and as i remember they came with the tbi cross fire 305. do you think i still should give it a chance.

Car: 2004 Chevy Avalanche
Engine: Some that run, some that don't
Transmission: 700R4's, a T-5, and a Turbo 350
It should have a Crossfire 305 in it. However, just because the guy says its a 350 doesn't mean it is. You would be amazed how many people will tell you their 305 is a 350.

Not all 82 Pace cars were CFI either. You had the option to get a 4 speed tranny which is only available on the carbed motor. I would look at the overall condition of the car before spending too much. I just bought one for $8500 in mint condition with 18k original miles. How much will it cost you to get that car into perfect condition again? That should give you an idea of if it's worth it.

If it's relatively solid and has the original motor, I'd say its definitley worth 2 grand....finds like Scott's are few, and besides, you can save a thirdgen that needs a good home

Check the VIN to the numbers stamped on the engine pad. It has to have the original engine or it's really not worth anything as a collectible. It needs to be in reasonably good shape as parts for 82 pace cars though available, are very expensive.
Especially the interior pieces.
