navy blue/gold camaro, hard to find combo???
I copied this from the other thread in the body and interior forum, this is probably more appropriate, so......
hard to find color combo-navy/gold effects anyone?
Hey all, this is more for curiosity more than anything else, but, its been bugging me. Long time ago, a neighbor across the street had a Z28, I would say maybe 86 or 87, but could be I think 85 as well. Anyway, this car was a navy blue, or dark blue, hardtop, and had gold ground effects on it. I dunno if it had a louvered hood, but I guess all Z's had them, right? This car was Bad-a$$, and probably contributed to me wanting one of em when I was old enough to drive. He traded it in on a red (yech) iroc t-tops, in my mind a downgrade, but no offense, just not my style.
so the question is, can anyone post a picture of a navy iroc with gold effects??? I've dug around and can't seem to find a reference to one colored this way. Also, the reader's rides are not working, so I couldn't browse there. It also looks like there are multiple paint codes for the years through 85-87, so were the colors different? This car was just smooth looking, and I might want to paint my car this scheme.
thanks!

I actually have some parts from just such a car; I think it was 85. But it may have been as late as 87. I seem to recall it was carbed.
The blue was a sort of duller blue than what you'd call "Navy". also not quite as dark.
Go to your local auto paint store and look up 85 to 87 GM colors, should be in there somewhere.

85 z blue/gold
I am fortunate to have owned one of these. It was a 1985 Z-28, dark blue with gold ground effects and pinstriping down the side. It also had the louvered hood that you mentioned. I did not realize until these threads showed up that it was evidently a rare paint scheme. I do recall only seeing a couple of others like it. I have a picture somewhere, but dont know if I can get it on the web, I'll try sometime this week. This is definately one of my "wish I still had it" cars

cool that would be awesome. I didn't really realize either, until I looked around for a picture of one, I thought it was pretty cool combination, and wanted to get some more details, so thanks!

I converted the file to .jpg (opened with paint, and saved as .jpg), in case you ever need to do that. Thanks for the pic, thats a pretty good shot, and thats exactly the combo I'm thinking of. The car the guy owned must have had a sticker delete option or something, becuase there was no stripe package, just the gold effects. Does/did that car have another pinstripe on the fender line? Nice car, appreciate the help!
