im looking for a conv. IROC..please read
ok, well i have a 86 iroc sitting in my garage, in a few months i will be dropping in a 10 sec engine *hopefully*. but since my drive to work is 45 miles round trip, i need gas milage. so i was wondering, whats the best year IROC? like, what year has the least amount of problems, the most power, best fuel economy *yea gas milage and a V-8, like that will happen* price is kind of an issue, i would like to get a 90 IROC, but those are still selling for 7000-9000 here in AZ. i picked up my 86 for $2000, so im thinking from 86-88 or 89. so if anyone can give me some imput id appreciate it.

87 was the first year for the official convertible camaros from GM. All convertibles are 305's, either TBI or TPI. They will all be the single cat versions, and almost always automatics with 2.73 rear ends and drum brakes.

hey Kevin, what's up!! long time no see dude...
as for the 'verts... YES, there are 350 convertibles. They were NOT factory-ordered, but were converted after being sold at the dealership by their owners. They were retrofitted by ASC (Automotive Specialty Company) who you will know, made the factory 'verts...
I just thought I'd throw that in the mix. the 350 IROC 'verts are out there, but they are RARE..

My friend had a '85 iroc, t-top with about 300,000 miles on the clock. I never caused him major problems, and he drove the crap out of it. ( oh wait, he did have to rebuild the motor at about 220,000.) still that's pretty good.
