What year did Pontiac start making Firebirds? I looked at the Pontiac site and it said 1967 (which I figured since that was the first year for Camaros). Now, a TTA is an 89, and it is the 20th Anniversary model. Is this because that Trans Ams were first made in 69 (were they?) and the 20th Anniversary is for TA's and not Firebirds? This would seem a little strange since a TA is like the SS of Camaros (Formulas are Z-28's, that is how I have always figured it). So does the TTA's 20th Anniversary logo have anything to do with Firebirds? And are the first construction years listed above correct?

Yes, you have your years right, but the Firebird did come out several months after the Camaro..... although it is also classified as a 1967 model.

The 1989 20th Anniversary TRANS AM was released the celebrate the 20th year of Trans Am production (1.e., 1969-1989); it is not connected with the overall Firebird car line's length of production.

The first Firebird was made in 1967 but the first Trans Am was made in 1969. The anniversary models are anniversary Trans Am's, not Firebirds

Why doesn't potiac make anniversary firebird's as well?
