If you look at that chart linked above, you'll see there were 969 hardtop TAs in '92, and I'm sure many of those (the majority?) were 305 cars. So yes, a real 350 '92 TA is pretty rare. Now, be advised that some thirdgen people seem to think none of these cars are truly "rare" except for maybe the 1LE cars and other super-ultra low production number types. But, I think it is hard to argue against a car of which there are only hundreds in existence being rare!

Post some pics of your TA in the Appearance section, or just e-mail them to me! I am about to buy a '92 350 TA and would love to see a pic of yours!

I don't care what anyone says the '92 Trans am
,Gta and formula are rare in my book.

Just look at the stats

816 Trans Am's
508 Gta
1052 Formulas
663 Trans am verts

I wouldn't be surprise if the 1992 cars are the first non collectors (EX: 20Th Ann Turbo,Daytona,Recaro) third gen to start gaining collectors value.

Yea, you won't find many '92 T/A's for sale.. It was the last of the third generation

I thought the gold crosslace wheel was exclusive to the GTA.. (T/A's got the 16 inch diamond spokes, but not in gold).. I'm wondering if someone swapped the regular wheels.. (Which to me would be a good thing.. Black and gold are a killer combo )

If the RPO sticker is still on your car, does it have the RPO code for gold colored wheels (52P) ?? If it does, does it also have Y84 ??

As mentioned above, any 1992 performance Firebird model is "rare".

The "GTA" rims were available on the Trans Am in both 1991 and 1992 on both hardtop and convertible models. The option sheet for '92 is a bit vague, as the gold rims are referred to as UPC 52P in some places and UPC PW7 in others.... but you could get them on a T/A.

Hi Frankie

Yes, there were gold crosslace wheels on non GTA models.. But there were two types of crosslace (AKA diamond spoke wheels).. The PW7 was the one used on the GTA and Trans Am.. . AFAIK, All the color related RPO codes start with a number and 5 was for gold. 52P only indicated that the wheels were gold.

My 1990 GTA has these two RPO codes..

PW7 - Diamond Spoke Aluminum Wheels (16x8)
52P - Wheel Color - Gold Metallic

To show you the difference I'm talking about between the diamond spoke wheels, I took an image from a factory brocure of a 1991 base Firebird with gold (52P) crosslace wheels and a shot of my PW7/52P GTA rims.. Note the distance from the spokes to the outer part of the rim.. The 'GTA' style wheel is MUCH deeper and it's more noticeable on the front because of the offset..

(I was just interested in seeing if PROCHARGED had the PW7 and 52P codes.. Of course you've no doubt done far more research than I have so I'll believe ya )

Howdy, former GTA Spotlight-er....

Both my '88s have both codes as well.

As you mentioned, the 15" gold crosslaced wheel was N90 and used only on the base model Firebirds. The outside GM ordering info I have for 1992 (not the factory order sheet) denotes the gold 16x8 diamond-spoke rim as UPC 52P; the 16x8 black diamond-spoke wheel is listed as UPC PW7. I have not located this info for the other years yet, but I am trying.

My other info lists the 52P gold wheel for 1992 as "Standard GTA, Available Trans Am, Included W/ Trans Am Convertible W/ Beige Top".

The PW7 wheel is listed as "Available Formula, Standard On Trans Am, Included W/ Trans Am Convertible W/ Black Top. N/A GTA, Firebird, Firebird Convertible".

But with GM and all, who knows what his SPID label will say....
