84 Trans Am H.O.
#2
There were about 55,000 84 Trans Ams (LG4 & L69). The 5 speed cars are more rare than the automatics. Also the L69's (H.O.) are more rare than then LG4s. There was also a 1500 run of 15th Anniversary T/A's. Most white/blue combos with white Recaro seats. Some traditional black and gold combos were also made. Along with just "plain" Recaro Trans Ams. I think you're shooting for if it is a rare car....it's not as "rare" as some other thirdgens (92 GTA's come to mind) but the numbers of 84 Trans Ams are dwindling, most becoming parts cars. 84 Trans Ams are very identifable, the nose is 84 specific, so are the stock W62 Aero effect option ground effects (Also a hard find if you're in need of them). Some 84 T/As come with functional (L69 only?)"turbo-blister" style hoods and most have the hood but non-functional set-up. Another rare option was turbo-finned aluminum rims with firebird spinners.

The blister on my 84 LG4 is functional. The blister on my 83 T/A LG4 was functional too (before the cowl hood).

Oh, ok. I didn't know for sure because I've seen two '84 T/A's that claimed to be stock, had the LG4, and the blister hood but it didn't have the connection to the aircleaner.

My girlfriend actually has an 84 T/A with the L69, 700R-4 and 3.73 rear end. Damn thing has like 140,000 miles on it and it still runs pretty good.

So does anyone know if the black and gold combo is rare or more rare than other 84s? My car has the black and gold, the ground effects are only in front of the wheel wells, and it has the functional cowl hood. Also, would anyone know why the car wouldn't have a radio from the factory? T-tops, A/C, all wheel discs, and no radio.

I have all of the production specs including the original dealership sales literature for the 84's at home. I'll see about bringing in the specs and placing them on the web site.
