Interior restoration

I know everyone has come across a sagging head liner and a cracked dash board and worn off electric buttons (windows and locks) How do you all make them look better, Isthere a trick or just replace.

Replace is the best, it'll be authentic... for the switches, they're only about $10/ea. The dashpad is a salvage yard item if you can find a nice one it shouldn't run you over $40... Dealer price is over $300. For the headliner, check the aftermarket for a fiberglass base and do it yourself.

recovering a non t-top headliner is a piece of cake and won't cost you over $50 including all necessary items. If it's a t-top car, that's another story. Mine didn't exactly come out too good

I know all too well the headaches of an interior resto when it comes the the dashboard arena. I still have mine all apart and am dreading the day when I start plopping that crap back together .... uhg. I'll do it ... waiting for winter months I suppose so it'll drop below 80 outside a few days down here

I did my headliner on my 87 for under $30. I bought headliner fabric at a fabric store for $22 and special headliner spray-on glue at an autoparts store for $8. You can reuse the backing board. Just clean all the crap off it first so the new material sticks good.

I redid the back valance panel and headliner in my '78 T/A (w/ t-tops) with black velour and it turned out awesome. I reused the original backing piece (or mold or whatever you call it. Then laid down some thin styrofoam packagin material--the kind you wrap big things in--for extra padding. Then, I used duct tape and a staple gun to secure the actual material down. turned out great.

Just replacing the swtiches alone adds nicely to an Fbody interior.

When I added power windows and trunk release to my Camaro back in July, I got 2 new window switches ($10.50 each) and a new hatch switch ($8) from the local Chevy dealer, and it did a lot to dressing up the junkyard console. (Someday I gotta get off my lazy butt and carefully cut holes in my original console and put it back in....it looks like brand new!!) My factory PDL ones have never had a problem with the logos wearing off for some reason.
