Found a picture of an intake I've never seen

I was going through my thirdgen picture collection organizing it and came across this picture of an engine with an intake I have never seen. Does anybody know what it is?

Is it aftermarket, rare original, or a custom job?

If it is something aftermarket or rare what kind of gains did it offer over the factory runner/plenum combo?

That was my first thought when I saw it, but I didnt think that you could put an LT5 intake on a standard small block...?

The engine is not an LT5... or the spark plug wires would be going through the valve covers. I haven't got a clue about the intake though. I'm pretty sure you can't use an LT5 manifold on a standard SBC.

It looks like its just a cover or something of some sort. Whatever it is it looks pretty cool in that pic.

I can't remember where I got the picture. But now that I look at it more closely it definitely is NOT a LT5. The LT5 runners go way out to the sides and turn down at 90*. The runners on this mystery manifold only come out slightly and turn straight down. It does look really cool though. Judging by the runner length I bet it does much better in high rpms and still gives a low rpm kick because it still has as decent runner length...

What's wierd is its shaped like it has 8 individual runners on the visible side. From the looks of the exhaust, the fact that its in a third gen, and the overall dimensions of it Im guessing its a standard smal block

Anybody else have any idea what it's from?

it appears to be some sort of cover for the tpi...kinda like a fake lt5 intake wrapped around a stock tpi....isn't that kinda...poser-ish?

now that you mention it the entire throttle body is hidden along with all the cables. If that is just a cover and they stuck all that stuff behind it, I'd have to agree with you and say its pretty poserish and/or cough *ricerish* cough

Wow... that LT5 is beautiful. I'd never touch one with a 10 foot pole though. They are all getting old now, and I sure as hell would never want to work on one of those!
