1986 Z28 305 TPI value
looking for what would basically be the value on a 1986 Camaro Z28 Black/Gold paint scheme, tan interior, 305 TPI, T-Tops, power everything if it is as they say, looks to be in good condition from pictures (haven't gone to see it yet), 129,000 miles 1 owner, currently sitting at a dealership i take it by the ad, asking 3995.
Here is a link to the ad if you care to look at it
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...&color=#vdptop
What should I expect to pay for a car like this? Or what they asking for fair?
P.S. not sure on this but jusing by the pic of the interior there is a balck object looks like it is hanging from the headliner, possibly came with overhead console. not sure.
thanks

clean car, but it's too much coin for that many miles, and just an old auto LB9. Although I might expect a dealership to charge that much. It would be much less from a private seller.

Car looks very good...especially considering its age. Mileage is alittle high, but it boils down to about 6500 miles per year---not alot.
If it is in solid running condition, if you could get it for about $2000-$3000 it would be worth it. I would be shocked if the dealer paid anymore than $1000 on it.

Yeah you never know, i seen a 50'sk 91 camaro they want 5000 for i thought this must have been kept away under look and key not a stain anywhere, nout dents, no flaws. Bull. But the guy is trying to get the money out of it he spent at a dealership 2 years ago which was 4800. oh well some people.
I was going to try and talk them down as low as possible the maxium i would considering right now for the car if it is in really good shape is 3500, other wise another person trying to rip someone off.
thanks for the input.

1988 Camaro...
I thought instead of clutering the forums with another topic i just add on to here.
I found what seems like a nice 1988 Camaro with TTops, Good body, top don't leak, New interior has a small gash in the headliner though not big. New paint, but kind cheap has over spray texture on it and some red paint on the silver gfx. It has a 350 TBI from a chevy truck with about 60,000 miles on it, new trannsmission, new steering column, gas gauge doesn't work.
They are asking 2000 for it.
What do yall think? It looks half way decent, runs strong to.

1.Unless a car was garaged all its life, with the owner always relubricating/putting silicone on the weatherstrippings...the t-tops are gonna leak. My dad used to work for GM and said they leaked even from the factory. And unless the car has brand new GM weatherstripping, it probably leaks right now.
2.Who knows what is under that paintjob. I mean there could be some much **** such as bondo, rust, etc. and you wont know about it until the paint starts to go, which considering its cheap paint, may only be a year or so.
I dont know what kind of car your looking for, but to me this one sounds alittle off. If your looking strictly a beater and nothing else, this may not be a bad idea. But if you're looking to fix it up, i would steer clear...it sounds like its gonna have some problems (if it already doesnt) that your not gonna wanna deal with. If you are just looking for a beater, then i wouldnt pay more than like 1200 to 1300 for it. Keep us updated.

I checked the seals and look pertty new, and they guy said he kept them clean, not sure about silicone part, i know to do it, not sure about him. I m still looking kind of right now, but i still got this one in mind.
Seems like most decent 3rd gens are like 150-200 miles from here, not sure why.
But looking mostly for a decent 3rd gen V8, runs good. Doesn't matter if hard top, ttop, or vert. Only big rule i got on a car is not for it to be purple anywhere, exterior or interior, i hate purple.
I still searching, still considering the black and gold camaro. But 150 miles is a long ways to look and not be happy with it.
oh well thanks for the good luck and everything.

That black and gold one if it's clean,as in no rust on the floors or quarters and no bondo or anything like that would certainly be worth 3k.At this time of year people are alot more willing to come down on price than at other times of the year.Waive 3k in his face and see if he bites.Even if he says no immediately a few days or a week later he will likely change his mind.

Most daily driver, but i want something that I can be somewhat proud of some i guess part show car.
The black and gold does look ***, in the south the about the only rust we see is surface so... Only problem I have with the Black and gold is it is 151 miles from me, why do they have to be so far.
But i am calling tommorow about a 87 IROC Z28, 350 TPI, TTops, 63K miles, exhaust, runs fast and strong, $3550. Thats straight from the ad. If it has a good paint and runs good, appears mostly stock, good interior, then I might have another camaro in the yard.
Also found an ad for 89 bird also 2000 ttops v8 and auto trans, i hate short ads, they make me nervous.:P
A few other ads that sound appealing but considering I already got one restoration project I don't need 2.

wow nice car for 2500, got to love black.
6 years ago My RS value was 3800 i think 3900 possibly and paid 3800 for it. But i loved the car, I always say it was the car to win me to 3rd gens, because i was one of those ones that didn't like third gen, then the day i got behind the wheel of my 305 I feel in love. It had 134 or 135,000 miles, and in the 6 years of owning it, it got drove 30,000 miles. It was my DD, strang a DD only get drove that much, but sometimes I drove one of my grandparents vehicles or what not, so it didn't see to much rougth housing. I did play with it though.
I am going to see how low they can go on the price, If it is indeed a true 63k miles, and is in really good shape 3550 seems right decent for a IROC. I should find out more stuff tommorow, so time will tell. Just so long as its not purple.

I bought my 86 Z28 for $250, granted it needs some work, but I still haven't put into it what some of these cars are going for at the dealers and I drive it every day. ( haven't touched the motor)
Just trying to say if your willing to get your hands dirty there are fixer-uppers out there that can be had for real short money.

Well most usually I would get one that could use some work, but considering I am restoring a 1960 Beetle I want to get it done before I ake on any other big projects.
I also found a website for that have some pics of the IROC, it is someone on this board.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/320759
dent in door, needs a whole new headliner, but is in km/h on the gauge but luckly it also has mph on it to. I am debating he want 3550 for it at 63k miles.
What do ya'll think?
Also considering a 91 RS V8 TTops, teal green/blue, custom rims, not sure what else but by the pic it looks fine 3295. I should more info this week or next.

I decided against the IROC, rust showing through paint and it being from the north only a matter of time.
But decided to see what ya'll thought about these.
1991 Rs TTops, 305 V8, at, 200k miles, teal blue, custom rims, good shape, gray int. 3295, which sound high, but may can get them lower not sure, it is a dealership so they try to sell high.
another 1991 RS w/ ttops and mags, 305, at, Driven dail, 111k, teal, runs fine, new brake + more parts, dented fender but he has one, needs paint, interior is decent it has a snag in the seat and needs cleaning. 2200
last one 1984 Z28 S/E, all orginal, owner's manual (may also include sales recipet if owner finds it), 2nd owner, 80k, speedo don't work, shows very little signs of wear, needs paint from seating out in sun, interior is great condition minus the headliner, sunvisors, and sail panels(i have those), Its just the basic 305, new tires, alt, and batttery, no dents, dings any where body is perfect. asking 2000 but may can go lower as well.

the 84 z28 doesnt sound too bad but with the broken speedo it means the odometer probably doesnt work 2. is the guy trust worthy on the miles? i say that one sounds the best. that or the one in between. maybe u can sew the seats? i had a firebird where the corners were torn........mom sewed em. hahaha.....good luck man.

The 84 is unusal for somereason unkown to me and the current owner the people had a maaco paint job done to it, which wasn't really drove after wards, it sat. So this guy bought and so it sat again and only drove around the block a couple of times, he hadn't even placed the insurance. The kicker is the door jams, and under the hood to paint is the orginal and is clean not even a scratch. I went and looked at the 84 already, that how i know.
haven't gone to see the 91 but plan on looking at it soon.
