1985 Trans Am spoiler question

I have and 1985 Trans Am and it has the wrap arround rear spoiler. I heard from a guy today that the wrap arround spoiler only came out in 1986 but then I heard from someone else that the wrap arround spoiler came out on the late 1985's which mine came off the assembly line in May 1985 which is obviously a late model. So I want a few more opinions did it come out in 1986 or late 1985.
Thanks,

Not an opinion but a fact, the new style spoiler was introduced during the 1985 model debut.

I believe it was actually an option in '85 but could be mistaken.

85 it was an up-option
86 it was deletable for the standrd wing and a credit.
87 Standard, no changes availalbe.

As a note, I was told the info on the 86 wing, so correct me if I am wrong.

Thats right. Also starting in 87, they painted them. The painted ones dont seem to last as long as the non-painted, although they all rust interally and ruin themselves.

Actually they started painting them in '86 the '85 spoilers were black.

My 86 is not painted, never was. I've never seen an 86 with a painted spoiler, not even the new yellow 86TA I test drove in early 87.
