info on this car if poss

Hi all well i have finally collected my first thirdgen camaro. The problem is i dont have a clue what it is , it wa imported to england a few years ago and the docs are a bit confusing. i found some codes on the car and i was wondering if any of the guys could shed some light on them:-

lower windscreen drivers side - 1G1AP87S8DN134293 (1 MAYBE I)
plate under the hood - D O2B 1FP87 N 1 34 293
17C 1 5 L 1 5U E
AR9 CC1
Z28 D80 PT
071124 780786

i have wrote the code as it is on the plate

The car was given to me by my dad and he told me it was a 1983 Z28 camaro 5.7 350. I now read that the 5.7 was not available that year but the reg docs do read 5.7. couldn't find the engine code as the engine has surface rust but it has a 0-1850 holley four barrel carb ( is this suitable for a automatic transmission) on top of the engine it reads 'CONTENDER' ?.

any help will be gratefully recieved

According to your vin # It looks like your car was originally equipped with a 305 (5.0) LU5 Cross-Fire engine.

The cross fire unit was could have been swapped out for a single carb. Or perhaps a different m otor was installed, but when the car was new it had an LU5.

No, The 1G1AP prefix was used 1982-'84 then changed to 1G1FP starting in '85 and ran through '92.

I can tell you Chevrolet carried the Crossfire injection over for the all-new 1984 Vette and there was no 1983 Vette. The engine was not a match, however, for Chev's star-car
The Tuned Port was a fine successor, and we all thank the trickle-down status of developments.

The higher integration of electronics makes it harder to mix and match as LS1- LT1 conversions show
