Have dual snorkle with bulge functional hood, how rare is this???

Heres the story. I did some work on a buddies car. he couldn`t pay so here gave me this trans am. He said it was a 85. the vin is plate is rusted and i can`t read a few of the digits. the car was his dads, but after he died, the title got lost.
It had a 305 but was full of water. It has the complete dual snorkle set-up and a functional bulge hood with all hardware. it also has the lover fenders. i have never heard of both options on an 85 t/a let alone together. theres realy no question that its factory because the paint on the is chipping consitsant with the rest of the car and all the hardware is factory mounted. the car is silver with all the bird emblems. 5.0 4bbl, auto, manual windows, P/L, P/S. Anybody know how rare this combo is and what its worth???
Thanks

Not rare and sounds like it's not worth much. Based on the description, I'd say it's worth about $500.

85 T/A's had the new and extremely stylish flat hood.

Your Dual snorks point to a L69 mill. Now thats rare.

There were no bulge hoods in 85 and 86.

Some factory workers did take advantage of GM's Free Beef program and inadvertently left a piece or two under the seats during mfg.

Not Rare...it is not even factory. Let me explain.

On T/A's the dual snorkel aircleaner only came on 1985 L69 T/A's. 85 T/A's did not have bulge style hoods.

The functional bulge hood only came on 82-84 T/A's.

So it sounds like some one did a little bit of part swapping somewhere along the line. All parts will swap w/ no modifications. Infact I am putting a dual snorkel on my 84 T/A w/ the functional cowl hood.

I have to agree with the others, the hood bulge is not an '85 TA option. I am a bit intrigued by the dual snorkle since you list the car as an automatic and 1985 did not build any L69's with an automatic. If I were to venture a guess I's say that you have a 1984 L69 T/A with the functional hood bulge. Can you post what you can read of the VIN? That will at least make it easier to figure out what you have. (put X's where you can't read the numbers)

That VIN can't be correct....

Going by the data plate it's a 1983 car.

It's a 1983 LG4/700r4 Trans Am.

Firebirds always had single needle instruments.

It's a one of none because no car came with the dual snorkle air cleaner and functional hood. Plus your car has the LG4 which means it came with the single snorkle air cleaner originally.

For T/A's

83-84 LG4/L69 = Single snorkle, functional hood.
85-86 L69 = Dual snorkle, non fuctional hood
85-86 LG4 - Single snorkle, non functional hood.

85 T/A WS6: are you just looking for the air cleaner itself or everything? I myself need the plastic ducts that attach under the hood.
BurntRubber: Let me know if they are not already spoken for and what you're asking for them.

I was hope to sell the dual snorkles with the bulge hood (cowl induction) hardware together. its complete from snorkle tubes to air cleaner with the rubber seal to cowl, flapper and any relays and vacume equipment. I am asking $100 (OBO) plus Shipping for the hole thing. if theres no bites, I`ll part the system out.
Thanks
