None that anybody around here has ever heard of.

Why, somebody trying to sell you one? They're full of something they need to get rid of, and flush and wipe afterwards.

I was talking about having my Camaro and that's when this was brought up. I didn't think there was a prototype iroc but wasn't sure. I think he either had the year wrong or it maybe one of the series iroc cars possibly but I haven't seen it. It was also said that the vin says its a prototype. I'm interested in looking at it, just for my curiosity and interest in thirdgens.

The VIN says nothing of the kind. You can believe that.

I've seen enough scams and lies in my day, that I wouldn't even laugh very hard if somebody came up with that line and tried to feed it to me.

THere's nothing you can learn from that; except how eager some people are to rip others off by telling lies to get them to pay more for something than it would be worth if they told the truth. There's certainly nothing you could learn about thirdgens from it.

I hope there's a special place reserved in Hell for people like that. They give the whole old-car hobby a bad name.

Well, how else are you going to explain the GFX on your 82-84 looking like they came off an IROC or your 82-90 looking like they came off a 92 z28? Obviously it's a prototype, not a clone. That engine there was stock too! Say, would you like to buy this swampland here?

Car: 1991 Formula
Engine: 350 firebreathing inches of Small Block Chevrolet
Transmission: A 700R4 that has trouble handling the formentioned 350.
I have seen a 1984 Z/28 with the L69 and a five speed for sale in the last 6 months.

Car looked just like a 1985 Iroc, so sitting in the lot I thought that was what it was. So then I stopped in to talk to the sales guy, he told me it was a 1984 Iroc-Z that it had 25K orginal miles on it and was bone stock, (He said an old man bought it new and died of a heart attack 3 years after he bought it and his wife left it in the garage until she traded it in for a new car). He also tried to tell me the engine was a 350 c.i. and had 275 horse and 4.11 gears.

The car had the stock 305 L69 and there was no way there was only 25K on it, the interior was ratty the brakes had been replaced the engine had oil all over it and there was overspray from a repaint on the windshield from a repaint.

So I went back the next day with all the documentation and could find and confronted the sales guy. He told me I had no idea what I was talking about. And then tried to make me a deal on the car, what a fricking TOOL.

I'm pretty sure that this guy will be in the special place in HELL.

lol too many people put newer parts on the older cars and try to fool people!

But a salesman? That's just mean.

There wouldn't be a 1984 Iroc, as the 3rd gen wasn't in the International Race of Champions till 1985! (right?)

As far as I know it started in 1985 (Iroc series) and ended December 1989 / 90 Model year. It was either just 88 or a few years after that Iroc-Z models where only available and no z28s. Kind of like 93 Camaro if it had a v8 stock it was a 350 or a 6 cylinder 3.8 or 4.3 thinking more 3.8 for some reason cant remember for sure. It made looking for a z28 a lot easier all you needed to find was a 93 Camaro with a v8 and there you have z28. I started out really wanting a thirdgen 87-90 Iroc then I wondered over to the four gens for a second then I came back to the thirdgens.

If I'm wrong set me strait but that's what I believe to be true.

Ok actually,

First off the Iroc came out in 1985 and were all Z/28's but not all Z/28's were Iroc's. Then in 1988 Z/28's were gone until they came back in 1991.
As far as fourth gen's go in 1993 there were only 2 engine options the LT1 350 and the 3.4 Liter V-6.

And there probably were prototypes for the 1985 IROC-Z's but they would have just been '84 Z/28's with the '85 TPI engine in them, but no stickers, and after testing the prototypes the cars would have been crushed, and not released to the public as a 1984.
