what is a SPEEDOMETER ADAPTER

Transmission: 700r4
what is a SPEEDOMETER ADAPTER

ok i found my rpo sheet or what ever it is and did some decoding and one of the codes is E5Z which is SPEEDOMETER ADAPTER (DELETE) so what exactly is a speedometer adapter

Engine: 5.7L TPI
Transmission: 700R4
You probably also have the RPO codes "E7Z" & "E9Z" as well and a cable driven speedometer, correct?

actualy it sorta pluged into this cuicuit board like thing sorta how a hard drive connects to the mother board

Think if you look at the transmission tailshaft you'll see a standard speedometer cable outfit. The E5, E7, and E9Z build codes are just the factory parts that were or were not used on the speedometer drives in the various cars.

The speedo can be electric or cable-driven and still have these codes.
