1989 Camaro Sales Brochure
Does anyone out here have a 1989 Camaro Sales Brochure that either shows the optional U1C CD Player, or mentions it. The one I have was printed in 88 before they made it avaialble. Was there ever a re-print of the brochure to reflect that added option? I know from time to time a option was made available, but never shown in the brochures.

ok, dug it up, and it doesnt show it either, in ANYTHING. mine was printed in July 1988, so i guess mine is too early as well...

edit: i looked out of pure curiosity at my 1991 Pontiac full line brochure and the CD player they offered on the Firebird was called option U1A. maybe this is a difference between years, makes?

i cannot get a clear picture of it, and i dont have a scanner...i typed out WORD-FOR-WORD what it says, im sorry if this isn't enough proof for you...
Standard and Available Radios:
5. UM6: Delco ETR AM/FM stereo radio with seek/scan, auto- reverse cassette and digital clock.
6. UX1: Delco ETR AM stereo*/FM stereo radio with
seek/scan, auto-reverse cassette, five-band graphic
equalizer and digital clock.
7. U1A: Delco ETR AM stereo*/FM stereo with seek/scan,
compact disc player, five-band graphic equalizer and
digital clock.
*Recieves C-Quam AM stereo broadcasts. Most AM stereo stations across the country broadcast in C-Quam but some do not. Check with your local stations for compatibility in your area.
that is directly from the 1991 Pontiac full-line brochure. i didn't change one word. i think the difference comes from the pontiac stereo having a graphic equalizer...? i dont know...

The first instance I saw of it was in 1990. All 3 1989 brochures I have seen all show the Bose system (RPO UU8) as the ultimate system.
What I find interesting is the U1C RPO code shows 2,597 sold in 1989 and only shows 3 in 1990. I think Chevy documentation is off again!

So perhaps U1A was then the pontiac option. But ya perhaps they never re printed to reflect the new option. Well either way if anyone happens to find one printed later than 88, either post a pick or let me know. I've been keeping my eyes peeled on ebay.

I have the dealer order sheets from 1989 when I ordered my Formula. The CD player was certainly an option. I don't have the sheets handy, but I thought I would offer that it was an option in 1989.
I have both a July '88 and an Oct 88 version of the order sheets. You can see the t-tops were on the early one, and removed on the later one.
Mark.

Screaminformula, if you wouldnt mind looking up something for me; what does it say about the bose system for the 89 camaro? How many speakers? How many watts? etc Thanks
And about the CD player. I asked my local chevy dealer about stock stereos for my 89, and he said that the CD player was $500 or so. But, if could have worked on other models, so that could be why it showed up for the 1989 also.
