factoy paint codes not matching year?

factoy paint codes not matching year?
i have an 89 camaor rs lo3 i was doing the vin decoder and rpo decoding on it today and the vin shows its an 1989 and the rpo paint code (wa l9536) shows that fo a 1990 camaro, is this some kind of rarety? just wondering info would be greatly appreciated

I frequent the camarosource.ca website for information, but like all resources, it is not perfect. There is some misinformation on that site like there is on this site and probably every other site out there.
I will give him credit though. He tried building that site with accurate info from the manufacturer and from those that know. Unfortunately, documentation from GM isn't always accurate either which gives you a poor starting off point.

We don't use Thirdgen.org's RPO Decoder. I personally wrote the RPO Decoder as well as all the other Decoders (VIN Decoder, Engine Decoder, etc) on the site.

I think all it means is that the name shown was the name used for the color in 1990. My car's color decodes as "Astral Silver", but in 1984 it was called "Silver Sand".
