Thinking about selling GTA....
I've been considering selling my White 88 GTA. I like the car and it's fun to drive, but it's not practical for any of my hobbies like mountain bikes, RC airplanes, hunting, camping, etc. I need an SUV or truck. I bought the car thinking I would fix it up a bit, but any time I have money to do something, I usually spend it on something else. The car is in good shape. It has 117K miles on it, 350 TPI, Yokohama tires with about 85% tread life left, Kenwood satellite radio, cloth seats tinted windows, and it's pretty much stock. It runs good and looks good. Has a few cosmetic flaws like a spot on the roof where there is a chip of paint missing and the spoiler is the rubber one and it has a few black spots. How much do you think I should ask for it? Just a guess, but I was figuring about $4200. That's what I paid for it. I put some into it, but what do you guys think? Matt

i dunno, i don't think you'll get that much for it....my 1987 Iroc-Z28 with 47,000 miles was $4500.....i think somwhere in the mid $3000's is the only place it will sell

I just bought a 1987 GTA with 98xxx miles, L98 350 and a dynomax exhaust for $2500. Good black paint with 2 small dents in the top. and a tear in the drivers side seat. Brand new goodyear tires on the original 16" wheels. It has a poineer reciever but no satalite. That should give you an idea of what it is worth.

I picked up my 1990 GTA with 100,000 miles, newer paint, leather couple small tears in drivers side seat, 350, no dents, for $2500. For an 1988 with those miles I would say somewhere in the $3000 range, maybe $3500? you can always start kinda high and just see what happens if nothing then come down.

yeah it's 350, t-tops, seats were recently recovered, 47K miles...it was pretty much loaded, i think the only option it doesn't have is leather seats
it's mint except the headliner needs to be replaced, and there's a little bit of white paint on a small section of the weatherstripping from overspray, but that wont take but a few minutes to take off
just keep looking, your perfect 87 is right around the corner
i'm on a college comp so here's the best pic i have on the net:
edit: wait, back in my room now, better pic:

I think $4200 is a bit optimistic. I picked mine up a few months ago for $3500. It had more miles, but the engine was a recent rebuild and the car was clean with some recent brake work. Theonly bad part was that I had to get new tires for it. They were in pretty bad shape. You could start out a $4000 and go from there. Everyone like the idea of talking someone down. Just don't be suprised if you don't get $4000 for it. I'm wondering.. do you have to sell the car to get something elese or can you afford buy something elese with out the sale? Only reason is a clean GTA in the future might be something worth sitting on. From a collector stand point. Nobody thought that the late 2nd gen Trans Am's would be worth anything years ago and now they are starting to climb in value. So if you had a place just to keep it and sit on it that might be a good thing, but it is understandable if you have to sell it.

There is a perfect white 87 l98 iroc with t-tops and a red interior for sale here that looks just like the one in the pic (minus the black stripe), with 27,000 miles on it just down the road from me. I think the guy wants something like 8k for it though.

why an '87 specifically and not like an 87-89? There's a badass bright red 1988 Iroc-Z28 on ebay now w/ 55,000 original miles and gray interior...it's supercharged though so dont know if that fits into your 'low-modded' category...just wonderin why you want an 87 specifically

Wow reading threads like this one makes me feel like I got raped when I bought my 92 GTA, even so I'd still be more than happy to pay it again and then some if needed:
69K Miles, $7,000
100% bone stock, it was maybe an 8+ to a 9- on the condition...
Now it's got 120K Miles, a few small mods, a $3K tranny + allot more. Maybe now it's a 7+ to an 8 in terms of condition cause it's my daily driver now, to work anyway.
If someone had a gun to my head to sell it now, I wouldn't let it go for a penny less than $6,500 or they can just go ahead and shoot...

I got my 1989 L98 TPI ASC convert for $8,600 with a 5 year loan for the $8000!
I have paid it off but it has taken road hits from poor drivers and a few knocks from me as while, now taking on rust. Just recently the fuel pump has caused the engine to refuse starting and gaskets needing replacement. I bought a winter Caddy from eBay for $450, my first eBay car, and virtually all problems weren't mentioned but it has it's good points. The F car is staying with me though but I don't entertain offers to sell it as-is. Being a GM fan, I don't want to see the car die this soon....out of my hands, like my last car- I couldn't save it
