barret jackson third gen
I was watching the Barret Jackson auction today on speed and GM was auctioning off some of it's old show cars. While showing an S-10 truck, I could see the next up was a white third gen Camaro. They went to comercial and I fliped over to the race. When they got back from commercial, they had already passed the Camaro and went to a Tahoe! Does anyone know what that Camaro was? Since it was in the middle of GM's auction, I am guessing that it was not an average Camaro.

Hmmmm, Ok so it is a pretty nice IROC. I was hoping for an engineering mule or heritage edition or even something like the Gale Banks Formula (oooh boost is good!). After finding out that it is just signed by a bunch of "rock stars" from Live Aid, I am a little underwhelmed.
After watching the cars being auctioned, I understand why GM is getting rid of these. They are unique but nothing "special."

I guess you figured it out. I saw that and was just about to say that it was only a car signed by a bunch of musicians. Nothing special in my book. I could care less about a bunch of signatures.

Thats not what I meant. i like the car and appreciate the fact that it is VERY low miles but I would never care about a bunch of signatures. I guess musicians are just not that important to me...or atleast those ones.

Sometimes it's not just the car that carries merit.
In 1985, Live Aid was an international fund raiser for AIDS research. It was THE largest rock concert ever put on. I wasn't a fan of alot of the artists there, but the fact that this one car has all the signatures of the stars performing at the largest benefit concert ever, can give this car outstanding value.
You would not be able to buff the signatures out. The car was clear coated after the signatures were starting to fade. In 1985, cars were not base/clear painted so the clear was done by GM at a later time. This car belongs in Ohio at the rock n roll hall of fame!
This car represents history and would be a shame to have the signatures buffed off.

Yeah, really famous people signed it. However it seems like a waste. Great car that has too much "value" to drive, what is the point? I might feel differently if say it was a Strat signed by Jimmi Hendrix, or a nostalga A/FX car signed by Arnie Bestwick but the Live Aid / Camaro connection is just out of place.

I normally would agree with Scott on this type of thing, but in this case, I just don't get it. The car should carry some weight in the music world, but to us car guys, it's just a waste.
.....but then again, if ya don't want it, don't buy it. ....and since whoever bought it probably did so for the music significance, I guess everyone is happy!
...after all, it wasn't the word "IROC" that kept that mileage off!
