1990 Iroc Convertible

I have a friend who is looking for a 1990 Iroc-Z convertible 5-speed 305 TPI. Could anyone enlighten me as to the number of these cars produced or at least provide a reasonable estimate. I have located a few 1991 and 1992 Z28 convertibles for him but he is set on a speed-density TPI Iroc convertible, thus leaving him with 1990 as the only choice. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Yeah I am looking for the # of 5-speed convertibles or an estimate of the % of iroc's that were 5-speeds and then I could estimate how many 5-speed convertibles that would translate into. Thanks for your help.

I wish him lots of luck. I don't think that will be easy to find.

I figured I would refresh the thread. Anyone else have any estimates on the production #'s of these?

I agree. Took me FOREVER to find a convertible with a 5-speed. I didn't care what year it was at the time, so I had quite a better chance at finding one than you do, especially since your looking for a 90 (short production year) All I can say, is good luck. He's gonna need it.

The 1991 and 1992 both have speed density, 1990 was just the first year for speed density, so the 91 and 92 should work for him

The key word here is IROC. There are no 91 or 92 IROCs so he is stuck looking for a 90 unless he's willing to settle for a 91 or 92 Z28.

IROC

Yeah that is the issue here. We have found a few 5-speed speed-density tpi 1991 & 1992 Z28 convertibles. If the 1990 iroc search does not yield any good leads after a few months he might go with the Z28. Any leads would be appreciated if you happen to see one. Thanks.

I am having a tough time finding this exact car! I want a 1990 5-speed TPI Iroc so bad. The production number must be very low as I have not found one in months of looking!

Well if you run the percentage it can't be more then a 200 or 300 I'd bet that came with the T5. Keep the faith though. I finally found one myself. Here's my 1990 IROC 305/T5 vert. It's got 150k miles on it, and needs some work, but over all she's in good shape.

I have been looking for one for 3 years!

At least I was lucky enough to find a 1990 IROC-Z 5.0 TPI 5 speed currently under a total restoration to new condition. I am unable to come close to an exact #, but I am guessing that in 1990 the total number of 5 speed IROC-Zs is "very" low.

Perhaps someone can give us a better idea of the actual# ?

No he never did find one.

He ended up buying a 1989 Iroc convertible 5-speed TPI w/ 4k original miles. Not what he originally wanted but needless to say he ended up happy anyway.

The only picture I have uploaded online right now that you can see it is this one, where unfortunately it's behind my 87. Sorry but my ftp client isn't working right now so I can't upload another.

There were no records taken. Approx. 15% of all third-gens have a 5-speed. Factory that into the 1294 previously stated and you get approx. 194. I'd think there would be less than that, but it given you a good estimate to go by.

Re: 1990 Iroc Convertible

thanks for the breakdown on the '90 convert. 5 speeds.
what is the going rate for a 90 iroc convert. 5 speed?

my car needs paint on the trunk lid,new carpet, and the driver's side seat needs to have the leather replaced.basically a nice driver.

what would mine be worth in it's present condition and would it be worth holding on to?

thanks in advance.
