'91 Production #'s
Can anyone tell me where to find production # break downs for a '91 305 TPI 5speed Formula? I tried GM ,and all they could tell me was the total produced in 1991(around 5500).I'm trying to find the total built for my combo. Thanks Chris

Hey thanks for the responce. I bought the car from Bruce at Hawk's ,it's going to be a long term project. The front was wrecked but no frame damage. So far I've got all new deflectors, filler panels, and a new nose(impossable to find,I got lucky& found one in West Va.)The car's white with black interior,I almost bought one like it in'92,so this is my second chance. It would be possible to figure out how many 5.0 TBI, 5.0 TPI and 5.7 TPI Formulas were availble if you have the correct information.
Here are some hints:
ONLY the base firebird got the V6 or the LO3
Formulas would get the LO3, LB9 or L98
T/A's and GTAs would only get the LB9 or L98 in 1991.
Therefore if you find the information about total number of each engine produced in 1991 you can figure it out,
This would only work for the Formula , sorry T/A guys does not work for you.

Hi guys!
I got new for you!
Pontiac does have the info! Think about it!
They have all the vins, which show which engine!
Now, they never (they say) broke down the number of engines per car line, but they do have the records.
They would need to get everything programed with a new program that would give the breakdowns. They have the microfiche, just not anything put into a new computer program. The cost would be more than they are willing to spend on right at the moment, as what info we want, as Pontiac no longer makes any money on these old cars.
This is something that we, as collectors, may have to be willing to foot (the bill).
I myself, have been "collecting" vins, build sheets, RPO lists from the cars, and data plates, as well as window stickers (why they call them window stickers is beyond me, most dealers just tape them on-Ha!). I have been doing this for years, and of course, I am no where near as getting all of them, but I do have a fair number.
I also "collect" the above, for the cars I see being crushed at the local junk yards. The amount is staggering!
You think Pontiac doesn't have a clue on how many engines they make per year (or any car maker)? Granted, The car makers didn't use up every engine in the cars they built (case in point, the Pontiac 400 engine used in 1979 (I know, it's second gen related, but used only as an example), were all stockpiled from the 1978 builds. Pontiac was not allowed to build any in 1979.).
Maybe some of us should get together and swap info! I'm game!
My take,
George
