Definitive answer needed about 88p
I have an 85 IROC that has a few different things. I am the second owner of the car and the guy I bought it from swears that this is how it came from the dealer. First off it has never even been in the rain completely clean under side, it has the original tires and so on. So it was definatly taken care of, 12000 miles is all that it has been driven. Now on to my qestion. One of the rpo is 88 p and from what I have read on this board that should be the color of the wheels (gold). But my car has the silver wheels with gold IROC center caps as I said earlier with the original gators. so was that code in fact for the rim color or the center cap color?
One other thing has me stumped I have no IROC stickers on the doors or striping on the body although the badges all are gold. The original owner said that he ordered it that way. I did not think that you could do that in 85. It looks really sweet, all black with no stickers. I have spent a considerable amount of time looking at the car and it has never had a repaint. Could the dealer have taken the stickers off? I can tell from the rpos that it was a special order car. If I could figure out how to post pics I would thanks for helping clear thing up in advance.

What color is your interior? if it's tan then there is a good possibility that your wheels and stripes should be gold.
Stripe delete was not an option in 85. You would really have to have a good relationship with the dealer to get them to spend the time and labor to take the decals and stripes off.
And if the dealer did take the stripes off, it is still not factory delivered from GM. In other words not stock.

Thanks for the info. The missing stripes and IROC stickers are still bugging me. I like the look of the car but wonder how he would have gotten it that way with out repainting? Could the stickers have been taken off with out messing up the paint? It has both the B4Z and the Z28 rpo codes is that nornmal? This is driving me nuts. The guy that I bought it from had no reason to lie and he was the only owner of the car. Thanks everybody.[

There were alot of people that liked the look and performance of the IROC-Z, but they didn't like the stripes. That's why GM offered the car with stripe delete years later. The dealer probably removed them to get the sale. The decals are easily removed without any damage to the paint.
As for the B4Z and Z28. This is correct. In 85-87, the IROC-Z was an option on the Z28. If you wanted a Z28, then that would be the rpo code, but to get an IROC-Z, you needed to first order the Z and upgrade it to the B4Z (IROC-Z). Sounds like a nice car and legit.

85 rock, you need to know how to post pics? well, the preferred way is to have a website (imagestation, carfax) host the pictures and you link to them, thats what i have doon with this image. if you don't you can always have TGO host it by following the instructions on the image i linked too.
hope this helps you out

Thanks, You have a sweet ride also. I have just recently been really into the third gens. I used to really be into the first gens. until I drove one of the irocs. I sold a completely restored 68 convertible and got my first third gen( the 85 in the pics) and love it. Now I am in the process of restoring/ hot rodding an 89 iroc convertible. The 85 in the pics is cherry so I dont dare mess with it.
