well i bought my first thirdgen a few weeks ago and ran the rpo codes came up with

23v MED MAUI BLUE MET
86A STRIPE COLOUR ACCENT TWO TONE RED/GUNMETAL

i really wanna know what this looks like as i'm trying to restore it to original colour

 

The RPO code for stripes on this site is incorrect. You will need to do some more research to find the correct stripe color for your car.

What color is your interior.

Usually, but not always, the exterior stripe is roughly the same color as your interior.

As an example if you have red interior you have a red stripe, grey interior silver stripe ETC.

Looking at the picture in your avitar, I would guess silver and black.

 

thats correct silver and black, the reason i ask is because iw ant to give it a paint job but was curious what stock would look like

 

Try posting this in the History/Restoration board the people who post there know there **** and more than likely can get you a straight answer.

Your car is what the Camaro White Book calls bright blue. The only blue available in 1988.

It should have a silver and black stripe similar to an 85-87 Iroc-z. silver on top, black on the bottom.

Silver GFX's.

 

Forgot to add photo, it would look similar to this without the top two stripes.

 

hmm thats the exact colour i dunno i like it but it needs a new paint job i think i might go darker

 

Acording to the RPO code book that I have,

23Q = molding color (medium maui metallic)

23U = exterior color (medium maui blue metallic)

86A = stripe, two tone (light silver/black)

Ok,

Here is what I have found so far in my book while watching the eagles - packers game. There does not appear to be a X05, E92, Z31, or 7UX. I have found the 9B4 and a E9Z, a 7XU, and a Z51.

7XU : SPRING, COMPUTER SELECTED, FRONT, RIGHT HAND
E9Z : SPEEDOMETER KEY (DELETE)
Z51 : performance package handling
9B4 : cap, fuel fill stainless tether

If you're not sure about all the RPO codes for your car, contact your local dealership and give them the VIN and they should be able to bring up the correct RPO codes for you.

The car pictured is an 85. I don't know whether the shade of blue changed from 85 to 88, but it should be close to the same shade as your car should be.

 

its about as close as i could expect i like the colour but am going to change to a dark mettalic blue still wondering about the rpo's though
