What does these codes mean?
Hello!
I live in Sweden and I have a 1985 Iroc Z. I am wondering what these RPO codes mean?
E5Z : SPEEDOMETER ADAPTER (DELETE)
E9Z : SPEEDOMETER KEY (DELETE)
I have asked at the Swedish Camaroforum http://camaroforum.mine.nu
but no one seems to know exactly what they mean.
I hope someone here can help me.

Hello and thanks for the welcome!
Well itīs not a Swedish sold car. It is imported to Sweden in 1993 from Alabama-USA and I have owned it for about 20 months, so I thought I should check the RPOīs. I have heard something about a built in topspeedlimiter (Im not shure about the name for it). My thoughts is that it is a delete of the "topspeedlimiter". But it would be nice to know for sure.

How high does the speedometer read to? It may be an RPO for one that would normally not be there.

85's got the 85 MPH speedo across the board and an easy way to check for the speed limiter is to check the tire label on the door if it lists Z-rated tires you don't have one. I don't think 85's had one any way.

Holy Crap guys. This has come up so many times before. Help the new guy with at least some valid answers!!!
The speedometer switched over from mechanical to electronic prior to your car being built. The codes you mention are for components used with mechanical speedos. They required the "delete" so that the line workers knew the car had an electronic speedo and didn't require the mechanical parts.
